@canadaclaret2 ай бұрын
@@nobodyshome6792 the yeast is required, but it is present in nature. Alcohol is a by-product of the yeast's digestion of sugars. Yeast produces carbon dioxide (resulting in bubbles in booze and rising bread) and alcohol. But yeast is plentiful. It is around us everywhere. What brewers and vintners do is select particular yeasts that produce specific results, some of which they have even patented.
@nobodyshome67922 ай бұрын
@@canadaclaret there are multiple different fruits and grains that will ferment naturally WITHOUT yeast. There are plants that do not ferment naturally, but need something to help. Grapefruits ferment, no yeast involved since they ferment INSIDE the rind, where yeast (fungus) cannot invade. This happens with oranges and bananas and plantains as well. Hopps does not ferment naturally, it requires an "activator" such as yeast to ferment. Grapes do not ferment either, unless something is added to them to cause fermentation. There are entire lists of plants that ferment naturally without yeast, just as there is a long list of plants that can only ferment when yeast is present. Yes I understand that brewers and vintners utilize different types or strains of yeast when making their beverages. Thing is, both hopps and grapes do not ferment without the addition of yeast to their environment. While some companies that make liquors using fruits or some grains do not use yeast at all. Remember, there usually isn't any yeast in a wheat or corn silo, yet they BOTH ferment making a very sweet and harsh drinks. Drinks with extremely high sugar contents. Most Ethanols are in fact, yeast free alcohols. (I'm allergic to yeast itself, so I sort of have to pay attention to these things.)
@canadaclaret2 ай бұрын
@@nobodyshome6792 They certainly continue to ripen through a process called autolysis. I am quite sure they cannot produce alcohol in the absence of yeast. The yeast doesn't need to be added, but without the presence of yeast, alcohol does not occur. Alcohol is a by-product of the digestion of sugar by the yeast. Fortunately, yeast is present everywhere there is life. Those plants fermenting "without yeast" are using the yeast present in the air or on the surfaces of the plants.

What kills me is that this channel is poking fun at others, but the grammar of the captions in yellow is atrocious!

I thought that too at first, but then I put the phrase “An attempt was made to…”, or a variant of it, from the video’s title in front of them and it was like night and day for my comprehension of them, 😅.

How can there be SO many pigeons in the world if they're SO bad at building nests? How do their eggs stay safe until they hatch, and where do baby pigeons hang out all day if Pigeons can't build nests. Also, has anyone ever actually seen a baby pigeon in the wild? Maybe pigeons aren't real, but just robotic drones. #GoodQuestion

There's a Sci Show episode on their nests, if you're interested in learning more, but rock doves gonna rock dove: you just need one or two sticks to keep the egg from falling off if you usually find a hard, flat, difficult to reach crevice for nesting.

I have seen unfledged pigeons. They do not need to build nests and haven't since they were domesticated a bit over 6,000 years ago.

As the name rock dove indicates, pigeons naturally nest on cliffs. In the city they find similar places to nest like the underside of overpasses or the ledge of a building. Last place I saw a baby pigeon (and their parent) was under the eaves of a parking garage. It was near a transit center and accompanying food vendors so a lot of them were nesting in the area.

@@nobodyshome6792 that’s not quite right. The OG rock dove didn’t build nests. Domestication didn’t change that, it just dispersed the birds to new continents
