The Fury Revival! 1959 Plymouth Fury "Christine" Lives Again

After decades of rotting away, it felt that this 1959 Plymouth Sport Fury was deserving of a second chance on the road. Although not a 1958 like Stephen King's "Christine", one can't help but notice the strange vibe that this car gives off. Mind you that we were younger and less experienced when recording this video, so at times we do things that probably should have been done differently, but it's fun to look back on what we were doing and really, what a couple kids accomplished. Good luck on that '59. My father had a '57 4 dr & a '58 wagon. I remember him letting me drive the wagon when I was about 12 . Very cool cars.

I'm glad people are keeping these old cars and not squashing them. They can be updated to modern specs and be like new again. A lot of work and planning went into the manufacture. I suppose they were obsolete like the old mobile phones and tossed away.

Awesome! We have a 1958 Coronet we got running & on the road, looks beat up but in good shape. We have a new appreciation for any old Forward Look car, amazing styling beyond anything the other car makers were doing at that time.

My parents had a 1962 Chrysler Newport with a 361 amd push button automatic. Even though it has been 50 years since they had that car I still remember the great sound of that gear reduction starter. Make the Fury beautiful again. It deserves it.

Awesome car! I love the patina on it just as it is! I think it would be cool to see it running and driving with some seat covers on like it is. These cars have gotten so expensive that it is getting hard to find one that isn't either completely restored or totally rusted junk, so it is cool to see one as a project car.

Yes so true! You either never see them or see one once in a while that is a complete restoration. As much as I love clean restored cars, I can't deny that these survivors have something special about them.

Congratulations on getting that ancient MOPAR to running and stopping again! The body is surprisingly (relatively) straight and low rust considering it's age. BTW, if that's THEE original paint, you oughta patina it.

Christine wasn't a 57 Plymouth, Christine was a 58 Plymouth Golden Fury , Golden Furys were never Painted Red, they were White or tan with a Gold insert on both sides...

When you were trying to start the car , it sounded to me like a Chrysler reduction gear starter motor which I think was introduced in 1962. That would indicate the engine date too - but not originally from a DeSoto since 1961 was the last year for that brand.

Yes you're probably right about the starter... I've been able to confirm off of some stampings on the block that it is a 1962 engine
