They went with Daniel Craig partly because he didn’t have many established roles, Cavill might be considered too tied up with other characters, while the execs will want actors who would henceforth BE James Bond, not the Witcher etc.

I agree. Cavill is so wooden. Not charismatic enough to play Bond. Also had many box office flops - Man From Uncle, Argylle, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. Maybe a talented director could get Cavill to relax and be less wooden but it's doubtful based on his previous body of work. Cavill is a tv actor (kinda soap level standard) who happens to look like a film level leading guy. Unfortunately I very much doubt he has the talent to be a convincing Bond. Being good looking is not enough. You need screen presence and proper acting ability.

Jack Lowden is the lead in Slow Horses with Gary Oldman and he plays a sort of James Bond/Ethan Hunt type so he definitely has the experience, but I think that maybe it's too similar of a role as he is currently still doing Slow Horses (a similar issue I have with Cavill). Excellent show and one of the best espionage franchises atm

They should have gone Brosnan, Owen, and perhaps Cavill after 3/4 Owen Bonds. Would prefer to see someone like Poulter, Pettyfer, Lowden or even Hoult.

Henry Cavil is too well established with other IPs to play Bond. They want to sign the actor for around 15 years which plays a lot in to it. He’s 41 now, that would lead him to be 56 at the end, Moore was 57 in A View To A Kill and he looked it. Jack Lowden was great in Slow Horses but I don’t see him being Bond. I think the same of Aaron Taylor Johnson. The only actor I’ve seen in recent years that’s actually made me think” He could play Bond” is Theo James in his role in The Gentleman TV Show

@scottklandl488 I mean... it was on the national board of reviews 10 best films of 2022, was nominated for 6 oscars including best picture, made $1.5 billion at the box office and was overall well received by critics, casual audiences and filmmakers/cinephiles and from someone that used to work in a cinema at that time, it absolutely saved the industry that summer, so I can understand not being a fan or even hating that movie but to act like it is some ridiculous and unheard of thing to like that movie seems a little odd or misguided. In regards to the propaganda point, Battleship Potemkin is studied by scholars and taught at universities as one of the greatest films ever made and that is Russian propaganda so I don't think those two things are necessarily virtually exclusive.

Daniel Craig fulfilled all my expectations for an actor in the role as JB. He is the most tangible James Bond and his movies are excellent. I’ve had my fill now. I really don’t care who replaces him. My concern is the direction and narrative. Bond needs a shakeup. They need to do something unorthodox with the franchise a crossover or period piece or something.

Every movie they swapped white person role to other race, I avoided for this specific reason. For example: Second Gladiator, I was going to pay and watch it. Think there are two sides to the coin here: whoever is chosen will most probably be asked to sign a multiyear, multifilm deal and not sure many from this list (especially Henry C who has done it with DC already) would do that. Essentially, it’s a 2-way street: finding the actor who ticks all the boxes and the actor needs to be willing to essentially commit a decade on this. Also, it would be interesting to check the background of all previous Bonds (if not mistaken, all British and some form of theatre background hence actors like Clint Eastwood and Adam West were not chosen in the past). Last, what about a female Bond? Heard that was on the cards also, is that gone now?

Harris Dickinson has been given the nod by Barbara Broccoli but has received major pushback from Amazon as he's not a big enough name, wanting Idris Elba. Barbara is standing firm but agreed to audition AT-J as a compromise but she's still not convinced. They are now in a stalemate. Personally, I think Dickinson is an inspired choice and if there's one thing about Barbara is that she always gets her way.

Henry Cavill has so many "fans" that never show up to the box office. At this point he's overexposed. He's basically a less successful Pedro Pascal. I liked him in Immortals, MoS, and Mission Impossible. Everything else was just mediocre. I don't think he's suave enough to pull off Bond. Maybe if they went for something closer to Roger Moore?

Why can't James Bond Producers created and introduced a new Character within MI6 British Intelligence - a male colored MI6 Agent, who would be an allied to James Bond especially in a clutch situation, not just American CIA Agent - Felix Leiter. Instead of just killed this new MI6 Agent, let it play for 1 new James Bond film - show his unique skills and abilities which different style to Bond, appear in a clutch moment to work side by side with Bond in a mission which both them survive for a next Mission.

I disagree 100 percent with Cavill. A wooden uncharismatic actor. He seems a decent enough guy but not alpha enough in acting ability. Neither was Craig who I consider totally miscast as Bond for 15 long years (2006 to 2021). Bond is dead anyway (he was killed in No Time To Die) so Eon ruined the character. What a sorry mess the Bond franchise is in. Bond dead. Eon in dispute with Amazon. Oh, and the so called favourite AaronTaylor-Johnson starred in the box office disaster Kraven the Flop Hunter so maybe he's off Eon's Bond list. 🤭 I'd go for someone fresh. A COMPROMISE WOULD BE TO MAKE A NEW 007 = EITHER WOMAN OR NON-WHITE BUT THEY ARE NOT BOND...THEY ARE DIFFERENT CHARACTER WITH DIFFERENT NAME AND IDENTITY. AT THE SAME TIME THEY CAN MAKE NEW JAMES BOND FILM AFTER THE NEW 007 FILM AND THE BOND FILM WOULD TAKE PLACE IN THE PAST - LETS SAY THE 60'S AND HAVE A YOUNGER ACTOR PLAY BOND. BUT NOT A WOMAN OR NON-WHITE; THEY WOULD BE PLAYING THE "NEW 007". EVERYONE WOULD BE HAPPY AND SATISFIED. WILL THEY TAKE MY ADVISEMENT?
