The Future from the Frontline: Serhii Diachenko on the Historical and Cultural Heritage of Kherson

Serhii Diachenko and Yuliia Manukian, members of the Urban Republic NGO, are working on drawing attention cultural heritage in the South of Ukraine. During the full-scale Russian invasion, the researchers focused on documenting the destruction of cultural heritage sites in the region. They are primarily interested in those sites that are omitted from the State Register of Immovable Monuments of Ukraine. With their work, Serhii and Yuliia are hoping to start a discussion about restoring these objects.
In this video, Serhii Diachenko talks about the importance of registering the damages from a cultural standpoint and his plans to turn the team’s findings into a book.
