Today, Sam Korus sits down with Brett Adcock, a veteran in the technology industry who has devoted his career to building cutting-edge tech companies. Brett has been an integral part of technology companies for over two decades, more recently steering his focus toward creating affordable and practical humanoid robots. With his company Figure AI, Brett is giving life to robots that can easily blend into commercial sectors like manufacturing, retail, and warehouses. His plan involves developing an artificial intelligence-centric (AI-centric) robotic design that would not just decrease dependence on humans for tedious tasks but also make these robots more reliable. Our guest also shares his valuable insights on the challenges faced in this venture and the ambitious timeline for seeing these robots in action.
Key Points From This Episode:
- Overview of Brett’s background
- Advances in AI and robotics
- How robots tackling simple, repetitive tasks can address labor shortages in warehouses
- Unexpected challenges of designing entire robots from scratch
- How advancements and strategic data collection propel AI and robotics to new heights
- Robotic automation promises significant cost reductions over time
- How robotics as a service could revolutionize affordability and functionality in automation
- Robots could match human ability in certain jobs this decade, with home use by its end

This by far the most honest interview I have heard about robotics. No hype and clear paths to making this happen. I also appreciate the honesty on the difficulties they have faced with the build out. Thank you. This video needs to go viral.

Hearing you talk about how there are no off the shelf parts that you had to invent everything from scratch reminded me of the Wright brothers. David McCullough's book he chronicles how the Wright Brothers came to the conclusion that they had to redo everything. Even the supposed best efficiency for propellers on ships at sea were inaccurate. They had to wind tunnel test and re-create their own form for the best and most efficient propeller. They couldn't find a motor light enough or powerful enough so they bought a block of aluminum and just started drilling and made their own. They literally pulled everything on that plane out of their own a _ _ _ ! You are doing the hard work of the future, good going! Keep going!

I work in a warehouse in shipping, he is right they need to replace my job with robots. Younger people bounce out after 6 or 8 months from boredom and are lazy as can be. I love it because I spend all day learning with headphones in and focus on my investments. Retiring this month and I still am out working people half my age they are useless and need to be replaced with bots.

Just know that there is an agenda behind what you think is a good thing and it isn't good.

Perhaps they can use some of that AI to stop their portfolio from bleeding.

With exponential growth in general intelligence AI , as the human find themselves loosing their competitive edge and have their jobs replaced by robots , how would they able to afford buying the next Tesla or next household robot, mass unemployment equals a steep decline in people’s purchasing power

I have a hard time trusting people who end their sentences going up in pitch, like it’s a question. 😅
