Future Interaction Design HCI and Gestures No tactile feedback Hand gestures will create more problems than making tasks easier. However anything that can be digital, will be digital. It is a choice what we choose to use as a tool. What works should be better, easy, simple, goal oriented, with least number of step and feed backs ...

Correction: Air France Flight 447 was an Airbus A330, NOT a Boeing plane. Boeing still uses Yokes which are physically synchronized (when one yoke is turned or pushed the second yoke moves the same way) in their cockpits. Airbus uses side sticks, which are not synchronized. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_France_Flight_447

The fact is, is that what we have now is the most tactile and efficient way to interact with a computer: a mouse and a pointer on the screen, period. To try to improve upon this or to force other body parts to take the place of our hand as this initial interaction is redundant and pointless. The Minority Report and Glass versions of demonstration may have that wow-factor but in long run, they will cause more harm than good.
