Editor's note: We apologize in advance for Jason's poor audio quality. He ordered a professional mic weeks ago and it still hasn't come in yet!
Jason and Albert are joined by Korean football writer Steve Han. Steve gives his frank thoughts about the fight between Son Heung-min and Lee Kang-in (Ping-Pong Gate), the massive issues surrounding the KFA, and the importance of the 2026 FIFA World Cup to Korean football.

*Reads the description* Oh, that's funny. Seems like they're being overly apologetic about just a microphone. *Jason starts speaking* LLOOOOOLLLLL 🤣

Will Son , Lee , Hwang, Kim play in the Olympics and the qualifiers? Also, is Chhettri better than Messi by a lot or just a little?

You guys... okay the KFA fucked up, the management is bad and they used the story to shift the attention away but KIL is known to be a brat and at the root of it, it would've never happened if he had some fucking respect. He's had issues in the past with his past teams, you guys are just too quick to excuse shitty behaviour. The fact that he would've never apologised if the story didn't come up...he's had a pretentious and shit attitude for years.

Look, I understand he had attitude issues and how he acted at the Asian Cup is unacceptable, but for the first time he got a real taste of the whip for his shenanigans. What’s so wrong about giving him a 2nd chance to redeem himself? Ok maybe he wouldn’t have apologized to such lengths if he weren’t grilled this bad, but the reality is he did and it’s way better than if he just got away with it again. He’s also still a relatively young player, so why can’t we just sit back and see if this has taught him something? Enough is enough ffs

@@csandsoccer4660 He's 23, he's an adult and old enough to know better, saying that's because he's "young" or grew up abroad is just finding excuses. Chances are that's just the way he is but he'll be better PR trained in the future to save his image. It's just baffling to me how quick people are to brush off these kinds of actions and support shitty people just because they can score during a game. Players should be descent and respectful professionals, he's not.

@@c_md I’m not excusing his behavior - I’m just simply saying he should be given a chance to redeem himself rather than going to OTT extremes and permanently kicking him from the NT. He may have had attitude issues up til now, but it’s still only the 1st time it boiled to this extent and there were other factors that contributed to it becoming this problematic such as Klinsmann and co. I fully think he still needs to receive some sort of punishment for his actions such as not being called up for the March qualifiers. I just think it’s so OTT to be quick to jump to cancel culture instead of thinking more holistically and considering more carefully the context of what happened.

@@csandsoccer4660 I would agree if it was the first time but it isn't, it is public now because it happened with Sonny etc but he fucked up previously and how he behaved at Valencia was despicable. You might know less of that if you didn't follow European football at the time but he was awful. There's no need to ban him permanently or cancel him but it would be fair to keep in mind that he is not a good person, not a respectful player and definitely unprofessional. The coaches should be severe with him in the future and people should putting him on a pedestal cause he will never learn, he has no right to act the way he does. As a supporter you should expect decency from the player, that's the bare minimum.

@@c_md I am aware of the time he got into an argument with his teammates at Valencia. From what I read tho, it seemed like he was also mistreated by several of the Valencia players so it’s not exactly clear to see who was in the wrong. But other than that one incident at Valencia and this recent ping-pong gate, I never heard any discipline issues regarding Kangin so I’m baffled at how you’re making him out to be this absolutely despicable villain. In the end tho, back to what I was saying before, this is the first time Kangin suffered severe consequences for misbehaving, so there’s surely a chance he will have learned something and hopefully become a better person. I can’t change ppl’s opinions but I just can’t agree with ppl who were going over the line saying crap like his exemption needs to be revoked, he needs to pay exorbitant money back to the fans, and all that rubbish. I also would like to see ppl be more open to giving someone a second chance, instead of just cancelling him/her without rly considering context.

They’ve not been blindly protecting him lol, they acknowledge he deserves some form of punishment for his actions… but they’re balanced enough to see that “canceling” him isn’t the solution. Whatever happened to second chances? It’s ppl who are on either end of the extreme like those who blindly back him and who’re desperate to kick him out like you that are rly not helping… learn to see both sides and chill out ffs.
