I think a lot of people that critizice Spec5 don't take into consideration how they are risking their money, time and opportunities to pioneer an industry. This type of projects are fuled by vision and bravery. Daniel was honest when he said "we do the 3d printing and DYI-ing so you don't have to". Just remember how the first Macs were made out of wood and manual soldering by some geeks in a garage, same as the first ham radios were made out of tubes and coils in garages. Geat stuff in this video. Looking into Reticulum and RNodes, and mesh networks in general. Learned a lot today. Thanks Frank and Jason for the great content.

This system is maybe a little complicated for George Jetson, but I think Willie E Coyote could use it! Provided he does not order it from ACME.

How about a "DigiRig" "dongle" so you can use this system on equipment you already have?

I think the 900 MHZ would probably work better, for local communications.

Now, why can't the major ham companies make a 2/.70m rig with Linux or PI installed so you can do Winlink in one package.

because in the last 25-30 years, there really hasn’t been any development, and in reality, they are selling the same radio over and over again in newer and newer packaging, and this will probably remain the case

As long as spec5 stays decentralized, I can see them being the tip of the spear manufacturer for the public securing privacy and security. What is holding me back is my inability to use a 7" tablet that doesn't have gps inside with atak. I find having to use cell phones as a crutch, as my phone has a baked in sim, and that is the future of cell phones. I'm sick and tired of companies giving us what they want us to have instead of giving us what we want. Find a way to use non gps enabled devices with gps enabled mesh devices and I'll buy 12 units.

The future of meshtastic is not a proprietary mesh protocol.
@HamRadio22 ай бұрын
No, but that isn't what 100% of the video was about, either.
@garthvanderhouwen84422 ай бұрын
@@HamRadio2 No, but the claim that they wrote a meshtastic compatible mesh protocol from scratch without violating the GPL 3 probably should have been questioned. Likely contains a bunch of meshtastic code.
