Rome and Medieval 2 Total War have dominated the mobile strategy game scene for a long time, but can Age of Empires Mobile disrupt their hegemony? Age of Empires Mobile looks awesome from what we've seen so far, featuring grand sieges, new historical characters, and most importantly, that good old Age of Empires aesthetic and gameplay, looking a lot like Age of Empires 4. From what we've seen from trailers and footage thus far, it seems like Age of Empires Mobile will be awesome, and feature multiplayer opportunities and civilization-building we've never really seen in the same way. But will it be a true Total War competitor on mobile?

This looks like any other mobile money-grab multiplayer game out there already. What would be really cool is a port or new game that plays like classic Age of Empires with skirmish maps and no persistent hub-world (towns that are build with timers on them). The Medieval II mobile port works great and even has keyboard and mouse support. It would be really cool with a Age of Empires 2 port on mobile with the same kind of support and mobile controls. This new "Mobile" game of Age of Empires just looks generic and uninspired and the current trend of using "heroes", as if historical people are Marvel superheroes in spandex, is just ridiculous and cheapens out the entire notion of a "historical" game. We want nations, not "heroes" in our historical games (just look at the awful Pharaoh:TW for reference).

Imo I find rts games better fit for iPads and Tablets due to their larger screen but portability.

the graphic is different but the game mechanics are like rise of kingdoms, call of dragons, and all the others.

@@AndysTake the new mechanics and the fact that is in cross platform. It really transformed the Age of History series into a real strategy game other than moving troops on a man etc.

I love all of the Total War games. Warhammer is not without flaws. But the sheer content what Warhammer have, I mean you can have units from T-rex to Nuke dropping ratmen. It is just insanely fun. Although, no ship battles, siege is a joke and all faction start is the same. I'll give you that... but roasting chaos deamons with flamenwerfer dorfs what have BEARD ARMOR have bought me for kilogramms...
