the only issue is that tiktok doesn't make serious artists it makes tiktok artists which isn't the same. most of these viral tiktok songs are just 30-second catchy hooks designed to be used as an audio in peoples videos, not what we know as "proper" songs. the majority of the biggest tiktok songs are by artists i've never heard of and will probably never hear of again. can't see tiktok producing the next taylor swift. these tiktok artists will disappear as soon as their song stops trending then on to the next tiktok artist so they can have 5 minutes of fame.

It doesn't work for underground style music, only for commercial music. There is no point on sharing a small part of a progressive introspective melodic techno/House track without a huge drop with agressive stabs. You can't show the beauty of the slow evolution of the melodic aspects and the hypnotic groove of the bass and drums in a short video that is supposed to be re used as background music to catch attention and go viral.

Unfortunately, that affirmation is a little bit questionable. If we consider hardstyle as "underground", Dual Damage had an exponential rise through tiktok, for example.

Send a MP3. People listening to sent demos usually dont want to go on a website to listen.

@@leonhardt3397 if you attach an mp3 file to your email the label will ignore you. they even say "no attachments" it needs to be a private soundcloud link or dropbox link.

Dropbox has better quality than SoundCloud actually. From my own experience of working with labels, they all prefer Dropbox links.

I agree with you but I think Tiktok is more for commercial music and to make the buzz.Not for underground music 😢. But maybe things can change in the future that’s why I have got an account.

Yeah, the only reason I personally upload to soundcloud is so my closest circle can keep up with my progress as a beginner. I'm currently in the stage for designing my logo name/ etc for tik tok. Just trying to connect all those puzzle pieces before I just start unloading content to tik tok/KZbin. My discord also got quite a few people in it that jump in call every day. Might just grow that as a server for everyone to chill in while making music /share their ideas. Ik some people have already done this but it seems too fun to pass up.

Man, I searched for SoundCloud user numbers per year, and in 2023, SoundCloud had 200 million users. It’s gaining users. I think using TikTok is good and important, but for now, we don’t need to stop using SoundCloud. What do you think about this? Your videos are good! congrats.

The longevity of a TikTok artist in comparison to a SoundCloud artist is insanely short. SoundCloud artists like Uzi, post, Travis, carti, yeat, yachty, and so many big artists that are still popular today. TikTok made 24Golden, SoFaygo, that white lil baby rip off, and so many more artists who had like 3 good songs and flopped the rest of their careers. So common on TikTok.

Currently Audius is truly the perfect social network to achieve a stable musical career, You always have to question the beliefs of the Founder of Cosmic Academy, because he can fall into the Overton window and become a smoke-seller in the music industry. TikTok is facing severe problems, the USA has a bill to ban TikTok for being a threat to national security, EVEN Official Labels like Universal Music & Sony Music broke contracts with TikTok, for abusing the algorithm by choosing only people who meet their objectives, a violation of individual rights and for leaving the promotional work to TikTok and not to A&Y, violating marketing agreements. This man is little by little becoming a Tech Bro who will only talk about Techno-optimistic garbage. Audius is the future!, because it is a Blockchain platform that will revolutionize Web3 and cryptocurrencies, making the entry of Tokens to Artists and users much easier. Instagram is the perfect platform for Reels, have a greater focus on Reels, because Instagram is the only platform that will take you seriously, and it is the main platform to have a professional high-value brand.

The Repost to DL meta in SC destroyed the platform. All feeds are mixed up with reposts/bots/... Even pages who are known for deep house are reposting Dubstep songs- The community destroyed it aswell the developers who could not evolve and design good things for it. Still I used it every day.. 😢

Let's say you have a bootleg, does amazing on TikTok (multiple videos with 100k-500k views) and the audience is begging for a release... should you hold out and make the audience wait until it gets signed by a label or does distributing the song to Spotify/Apple Music independently lessen your chances of it getting signed in general if its already on all platforms

Does anyone else want to build a parallel Music Industry or are we just going to keep taking it in the ass until music is completely commodified and hijacked by the technological sector? No one says it will be easy but I’m really tired of basing my career on “the easy route” and as artists I find it appalling that we would condemn ourselves to “easy” mode instead of “hardcore” mode. Cheers.
