I'm also thrilled to hear about the moves you're making for your career, and I look forward to seeing any videos you make in the future (at your own pace, however frequent or infrequent they may be). I'm sorry to hear about the difficulties you've faced so far this year, but it sounds like the future is really promising. I actually applied for a job on Deltarune back when there was that open call and Toby Fox saying something along the lines of "If you're a jack-of-all-trades, why aren't you making your own game?" (in general, not to me), got me to make my first full-length game. Honestly, you've helped me so much over the years in my game dev journey, as I know from the comments you have so many others, and you've created a vast resource of knowledge people will be able to reference as long as there's KZbin and GameMaker Studio 2. Sending all my luck and love and good vibes.

Congratulations on joining the deltrarune team! Sounds like a dream job to me! You platformer series was the reason I got into gamemaker and arguably the reason I pushed through with game dev and got to where I am today, game dev being my main hobby and my career path. Huge thanks to you and condolences for your loss. I know that you'll do great with KZbin as a hobby!
@punkyroo8 ай бұрын
I know exactly how you feel. I hit a high on KZbin and did fairly well (never full-time, but it was a decent income) but that fell off hard. That combined with the stressful min-max KZbin has become is not worth it. So back to the 9-to-5! But it sounds like you've definitely got sights set into the future, so good on you! Wishing you the best.

Been watching this arc happen on Twitter slowly, but I don't think I would've expected your next full-time gig to be development on DELTARUNE! That's awesome, congratulations! And on the flip side of things, my condolences. One thing I've learned through indie spaces and college mentors is that game developers are some of the most passionate, driven people who put themselves through so much more work than the average person could handle... and because of that, we tend to stretch ourselves thin. I hope that you're able to find solid ground to stand on, and that you're able to balance your passion and mourning. You've done a lot for the larger game development community so please please please take your time with what's next. Excited for the future!

Congratulations! Your videos helped a lot of people out here. GameMaker has been kind of weird about how they treat their user base (and had to backtrack on some decisions) so yeah, don't sacrifice yourself for some greedy corporation, it's absolutely the right decision to work on Deltarune instead of doing KZbin GMS2 tutorials and this will be good for your career in the future. Wish you the best for the future, thanks for what you've done so far for this community.

I was actually wondering a few days ago about this you, I was watching PirateSoftware stream gamemaker and my brain was like "oh oh wait remember those other gamemaker streams?" Short story time: I discovered this channel a couple of years ago I was feeling really bad once, and I randomly clicked on the Livestream section on KZbin and saw your stream, I remember trying to level a whole section of a desert in Minecraft while listening to the stream in the background lol. It was nice to occasionally watch these streams from time to time since then. So, maybe it's a bit silly to say it out loud but, you were a source of comfort for some stranger and most likely many others, and I thought I should let you know! (and also thank you!)

I want to thank you a lot. Your video series about making a 2d platformer helped me get into not only gamemaker but also game development as a whole. I had to make a game for my ICT A-level and really wanted to get into the GMS but didn't know how, so that series was really helpful in learning sprites, coding, and a lot more. I even achieved the highest grade in doing so! Teachers were very impressed in my use of things. Again, I'm really thankful, and I hope your new job helping to develop one of my all-time favourite games goes amazingly, I just know you'll do well :] 👍

Your platformer tutorial was of huge help for me when I got into game developement. Sadly, it didn't quite provide me with everything I needed and I hit at dead end. So I watched a few more videos and I've been going through the ARPG tutorial now and realized, that both, the platformer series and the ARPG series, provided me with almost everything I need (and MORE!) to create my very first game (which is a beat'em up btw). Wasn't sure if your tutorials were the way to go for me, since I'm a total newbie and the frustration about some of the codes you use not working in new GMS versions made it hard for me to continue, but I'm glad I stuck around and I'm really, really greatful for everything you've put out! I hope things will get better for you from here on out, because you deserve it after all the hard work and inspiring noobs like me to get into game development! ♥
