USC just needs to get back to their roots like Michigan did after they messed around with the spread offense that took away from their identity. USC is not WR U we are Tailback U we use to pride ourselves on Olineman and RB’s. If we get back to our roots and establish a dominate OLine and RB room plus a good defense we’ll be just fine.
@RyanCuen15 күн бұрын
We can be both. I don't see any reason why we would have to sacrifice WR talent/production for RB or OL talent/production. We had Mike Williams, Steve Smith, Dwayne Jarrett (All First-Team All-Americans). while still running with Reggie and Lendale. I'm in favor of being a run first team, but let's not lose the WR's. They are also part of our culture.

If we aren't competitive next year then I think the LR experiment is over and we can make Lynn the HC. Jen Cohen is I think making savvy changes and doing it for the program and not for LR, such as hiring a general manager without input form LR. When I say competitive I mean in the playoff for sure and in the B1G Championship.

A massive limitation is Lincoln Rileys decision making in the 4th quarter. And its not even the timeout thing. Its clock management as a whole. Like playcalling. If USC doesn't have a comfortable lead in the 4th, its hard watching our offense let our Defense downn.

USC biggest question for next year is the QB position. I love the rookie but Jayden has some talent if he can clean up the mental side. The kid is better then 95% of the big 10 QB’s. USC failed this year because of its offense. If you take usc’s first year and put that offense with this past years D. USC would win the whole thing. The fact usc lost to what people say is a loaded Big 10 defense by a TD or less is scary for the future. This was a bad offense outside the run game this year. Losing duce and branch is nothing. The kids didn’t prove anything and were young and did more harm then good this year. The other problem was LR had to many guys and he tried to give everyone a touch. Next year we have lemon and lane who are NFL future studs plus a bunch of team player pieces around them. The WR room is loaded but having 2 main guys is what usc needs. Not 5 main guys asking for the ball. The D will be great next year but the real question will be what type of offense LR produces next year. We score more then 30 a game. The team will be a top 5 team. Fight on!

Make the playoffs or hopefully be fired. 0 conference championships, 0 playoff appearances, and 0 national titles is all that needs to be said here. Yes USC lost a lot of players in yhe transfer portal and to the NFL but they are putting the work in. LR had a full rebuild, he wasn't gifted a full cabinet like the clown st Nueter Lame of like ryan day at ohio st. This year, LR has to get it done because the schedule is way too favorable! @moparjo_9753 you are really gloating over the fact that "these" teams you are referring to aren't good enough to win a national title. Yeah, ND is in it, but they can never have the roster to win a national title. Everyone saw it in 2012, 2018, 2020, and unfortunately, we will see it on Monday. Penn State hardly ever wins when they play a top 10 opponent. Moral victories didn't get USC into the playoffs and ask Nebraska how many close games they have lost in consecutive seasons since Scott Frost. Even Riley doesn't know how this team lost close games. And ND beat USC by 2 touchdowns, not a touchdown or less

Sorry, but you are driving the car looking in the rear view mirror. USC is on the right track. Great coaching hires that will strengthen their recruiting. In the offseason they traded out players that were too expensive (NIL) based on performance for players they really needed on the team. That is effective management. The USC defense is going to be very good, maybe top 10, definitely top 15. The offense has some question marks, but will be good enough for 10-2 season at the least. In another year, it is going to become obvious to everyone that Riley is learning and growing as a head coach and will build USC into a powerhouse. I think he will have a chip on his shoulder, which is a good thing. It will ensure he has no mercy on opponents.
@greg796413 күн бұрын
10-2, at the least? Are you nuts? Did you say that about last year? They play Michigan, Oregon, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, and Notre Dame. All of those except Michigan and Iowa are on the road. And sprinkle in perhaps a loss they shouldn't have lost to. It's happened to Riley every year. Riley is entering year 10 as a head coach, and he's still learning? Does he need more time to learn to run the ball more and not have the quarterback throw 50 times? Has he learned how to win close games? He said he doesn't. He said after last years loss to UCLA that he was sooo motivated just to show a lackluster 7-6 season. So far, he hasn't shown that ability to show no mercy on his opponents. He's recruited worse than Clay Helton did. He can't build a fence around southern cal. Overall he has not improved the roster as it has gotten worse
