I am a reformed believer, and I named son Legion after Marks account of the demoniac. I see it as one of the greatest of redemptions. I would love to know what my reformed brother's and sister's think. Please tell me your thoughts. God bless.

Hi, i think the jewish people name their children with extra care because names will have a large impact of who we are. I remember Jacob in the bible, whose name means supplanter. And then he has this quality where he seizes Esau's birthright. So i guess in baby naming, we should name our children with names that will exalt Jesus. Example: Isaiah which means God saves. I would also like to note how Jacob was changed by God, and when he was ready, God called him Israel. A name chosen by God. Shalom.

Here is the correct meaning if rhis event. Pigs are an obvious enough indication of Gentiles, swine being the most unclean of foods ro Jews, and this raises the question of a political meaning. When the language is understood, it is seen by the pesherist that this is a record of a turning point in the Gospel period. 'LEGION' was Theudus-Barabbas, the Chief Therapeut, whose order of Therapeuts who lived in Egypt but whose elders and married members had a center in Rome, so living in both the 'Tombs' (the Egyptian pyramids) & the 'Mountains' (the 7 hills of Rome). Therapeuts held communal meals. These ecstatic communal meals lasting all night, are described by Philo and account for the image of frenzy. Even when they lived in Rome, they could be zealot, having 'demons'. But in this year, 31AD, that of Agrippa's change of allegiance, Theudas was also changing to Sadducee views, less hostile to Rome, & the spirits of zealotry went into other members of the mission, those led by a man called the 'Two Thousand', a title with similar meaning to the 'Five Thousan'. Now a word about Gerasa. Gerasa, a well known place whose ruins have been found, was about 60 kilometers from the shore of Lake Galilee. In the pesher, however, Jesus was traveling on the Dead Sea, and arrived at Ain Feshkha on the seashore; it was the place where the head of the order meeting at Gerasa came for councils. Therefore, Ain Feshkha would be called 'Gerasa' when the head of that order was there.

Jesus came to the man when he knew that the demons on had 2 choices to choose from the abyss or the pigs the demons choose the lesser of to two even if it only lasted for a brief time, Jesus also showed up with only that choice for them to choose from, but the choice still sent them to the abyss and the demons asked for it.the amount of pigs showed how many were in the man.
