Further to this, I should add that the original series on BBC of the Last of the Mohicans was filmed mainly in Glen Affric, one of my most loved and beautiful parts of Scotland. The scenery is fabulous. One of my abiding memories of this place (I was much younger then) was camping in Glen Affric and climbing 3 Monroes in a day. The middle one was the highest, by a few tens of feet and it was a beautiful clear summer day. On one side you could clearly see the tops of the Cuillins on Skye, whilst on the other was visible the Moray Firth. In other words, you could see right across Scotland at this point.

This anthemic piece of music is moving, emotional and enormously romantic, I first heard it as soundtrack to “Last of the Mohicans” back in 2012, when I was in a state of deep sadness and loneliness following my mother’s death. I fell passionately in love with Daniel Day-Lewis, who plays the film’s hero, and followed him online for all of 48 hours until I read about what he’s actually like - that was the end of that! I soldiered on with everyday life and then, out of the blue, I met a lovely guy for real and we’ve been blissfully together ever since. I’ve stopped hankering after fantasies, but my heart still beats faster when I hear this marvellous, evocative music.

I listen to this music composed in America and celebrated in Scotland. It was so well orchestrated and who doesn’t like bagpipes finishing off the piece. Hats to my Scottish brothers. Great performance in a magical setting!

The music is The Gael, composed by Scottish musician Dougie McLean in 1990. The American movie Last of the Mohicans adapted McLean's piece for its soundtrack.

I used to go with my parents to the Edinburgh Tattoo when I was young, we used to cheer the different teams on when they would be climbing up on things, it was great excitement. Now I live in Australia so I watch it on TV. I love the pipes and drums. Keep it up guys. Thank you.

I took part in one Tattoo when I was in the 1st. Troop cadets of the Royal Scots Greys in the 1950's. That was when the US Marines performed one of their memorable marching routines. I remember particularly the lone piper on the battlements of the Castle who always brought everything to a close.

I was fortunate enough to have seen a marching band with bagpipes in full uniform inside Edinburgh Castle 20 years ago, we were the few tourists left inside the walls once the ceremony began. It was truly the standout memory of my 2 weeks of hiking in Scotland
