First of all, ambassadors do not give orders to military leaders. They are under the state department. Next, the department of defense aka the department of destruction, does not like sharing information that is secret, top secret or above with anyone especially about weapons, tactics, missions or a host of other things. Now it is true that the department of state can ask for military assistance and personnel, and direct them to a certain extent. That extent ends when rounds start flying.

Fair points, but perhaps this future sees things done a little differently than what we have today too. Personally I like the way we do things today though with war matters being dealt with those accustomed to war--not people who kiss boots for a living.

This story would have rang more true if the Ambassador would have been an Admiral. Ambassadors most of the time know nothing about how military works.
