No doubt significant role played may. by the Artillery in changing the course of the war in Kargil is the factor only GenShanker is the better judge.but the main factor one will sayit was Shri Vajpai who listen to the Army which was one of the major point to rout Pakistan. Had it been Congress it would have been a different storey that is Lost Kashmir....as I covered that war and was in J&K

Question to Gen. Ravi Shankar. Normally military top braces do “War Gaming” exercise before any offensive strike, looks like the gang of 4 were complacent or over confident. Or their war gaming was flawed?. Gen. Musharraf was a commando and commandos are impulsive and do not take wholistic view.

It is a matter of concern and shame why Army Top Brass does not learn its lessons from Kargil of always fail to anticipate worst possible scenario and why they do not use heavy weaponry helicopters, drones and artillery initially and they always use soldiers and rifles till they suffer heavy casualties and eventually end up using heavy weaponry at the end after loosing precious life of army soldiers. The top brass of Army always have attitude of a laid back south block bureaucrat and the junior officers and jawans pay price.

The generals missed to piece the puzzle, they were clearly outsmarted by their counter parts, gang of four , there was never accountabiy fixed with these Starred generals, for the 545 martyrs, that is the shame of our system, young officers of our army, mirages with pods, saved the blushes, rogue neighbors, a hostile terrain, an indifferent nation esp south of vindyas- note I am from TN, ( i propose redistribution of gst should be based on army enrollment) we need generals lot smarter than Kishan pal, budhwar, Khanna( the GOCs who have been widely blamed sectionally by the media) in the war. I saw it first hand, young officers and men - cannon fodder, I had my co tell me one aphorism, there is never an intel failure it is failure of intelligent people,
