Where I live, the speed limit is 90Km/h on the highway, roughly 55mph. Almost everyone drives between 100-110Km/h, roughly 60-70mph. Never seen anyone pulled over. Thank god I live in Canada, we have semi-reasonable cops

FYI Michigan cannot take an out of state license in lieu of bail. Your license is not owned by you, its owned by your state. Michigan has no authority over out of state licenses. Unfortunately legal or not they will just not hand it too you. What you have to do is ask them to call the main barracks of the state police for the state you reside in. When I went through this (I'm from NJ) the NJ state police ripped the Michigan police a new asshole, right on the speaker phone in front of me. It was hilarious.

That was my thought... In GA everybody speeds but I've gotten a ticket for 66 is a 55 before... They allow 10 mph over the speed limit so technically they can give you a ticket for 11 mph over and they DO. In New Jersey/New York it's acceptable to do 80-85 on the parkway which has a speed limit of 65... Some cops will let you get away with 90 before they pull you over

Most cops will say "9 you're fine, 10 you're mine." Set cruise at 64 in a 55 all day long. 5 mph isn't going to get you there any faster unless you're driving hundreds of miles, and then you greatly increase your chance of finding a speed trap anyway.

First off, telling the cop that you had the speed control set at 69 is PLAIN STUPID to do if the speed limit was 55. You are admitting that you INTENTIONALLY broke the law; there's no way he's going to let you out of the ticket, even if it were just 5 mph above;-- because you INTENTIONALLY set the cruise control over the speed limit. The police are NOT your friends, and are there for safety and for generating revenue thru tickets. Be polite, follow their instructions, but never admit to doing wrong .. Analogy: You are in a prison, and you are taking advice about home burglary from a burglar that has been arrested and sent to prison for the 5th time. While the burglar might be a subject matter expert in not what to do, apparently he does not know what to do to avoid getting arrested and sent to prison. He's probably the WORST mentor to have; what you want is the burglar that has been burglarizing homes for the past 40 years, and has never been caught. Hint: The burglar you want is NOT in prison. Getting two tickets on two days in a row doing the same thing wrong- is a prime example of "Stop doing stupid $h!+" .. Think driving on a different road is going to make things better ? Michigan aint even bad for speeders. Ive lived here for 25 years and ive got a lead foot, regularly triple digits on the highway and NEVER once have i been pulled over for speeding. Ohio on the other hand, will get you for 2-3mph over.

the ticket is your temporary licence, they have all that in the system and will know when they run your name. You have to keep your copy of the ticket until you get your licence back.

You actually don't need to have your license on you to drive a car. So long as you are a licensed driver, they can look your information up in a couple of seconds. So the next time you forget your wallet at home and you're driving, don't sweat it you'll be fine.

Little late to the party here... There is some seriously failed logic on the part of the state lawmakers here. They keep the out of state license in an attempt to force you to pay/deal with your ticket. Barring the need for the license to catch a flight...wouldn't it be cheaper just to get a new license?
