The Game is Finally Getting Good | Zero To Hero: Episode 12 | Guildwars 2 2024

We are dangerously close to completing Envoy 1, and with all the masteries unlocked for HOT and Core Tyria, the only things remaining are finishing up the raid mastery line and the experience for Leyline Gliding.
The last collection is the ectoplasmic residue which i'll be prioritizing getting those chests unlocked from Wing 1 through wing 3, and with leyline gliding i dont need to feel bad about leaving at Xera.

Q2 - I'm convinced that Rifts and Convergences (at least SOTO ones since theyre coming back in Janthir) will die off once most have their armor. However, they did add the vendor that's got similar daily options to the Leyline Converter from HOT. Sadly the metas arent as quick or interesting as HOT ones.

Q1 - Always go healer first, as you already know, they're usually the most difficult to find when organizing a group, so you should have an easier time joining one.... Q2 - No. Didn't really enjoy playing it at all, and once everyone who is planning on making a new leggy is done, I don't really see why they'd want to go back (save for the possible infusion drop). I mean, HoT is replayable (imo) cuz metas are fast, but PoF metas barely ever get enough people joining (some EoD metas do but only cuz of the gen 3 leggy-related mats).

Q1.) Going to lean for healing set, I don't play much mesmer, but my favorite fractal buddy mains it and he's suuuch a mvp on boon/heal chrono when I switch off with him to dps. Q2.) I just... can't see SOTO being "highly" replayed long term. You mentioned HoT as a contrast, which I agree. I'm sure there will be some people who will prefer it as their legendary armor path, but as a general farm for everyone, it pales in comparison to a lot of other open world spots. VB>Matriarch and leave/TD>Chak Gerent/Amnoon casino + pinata/Teq or w/e world bosses are up are just quicker and easier for some gold. Archipelago and Amnytas look cool, however, their massive and overly vertical layouts are fun initially as a novelty, but don't interest me as much if I'm spending more time in open world. Also, going to embarrass myself and say thank you for showing this idiot your path on the last part of that zipline > mushroom drop section in Silent Surf, I * still * screw that up 😅

So I completely forgot that legendary armor required HOT currencies. So I'll definitely be enjoying those metas quite a bit. I'm kinda sad that soto was so disappointing on the content front. I am hopeful the feedback of literally everyone helped mold the direction of the new expac but I'm not sure how cooked it was by the time people started voicing complaints. Most people were holding out hope for the finale, for the fractal. So by the time we got to see it janthir was already pretty well cooked. Hoping for the best but my expectations are thoroughly managed.

Yeah right there with you on that Sil. Hopeful, since I love this game, but unfortunately their longtime pattern of inconsistency may hit another low mark. We'll see. :)

1) Chrono healing seems like it'd be better for group support, Condi Virt seems like it'd be better for both open world and group content . . . leaning Condi, since it seems like it'll be more versatile, overall. 2) Agh, that's a hard question . . . because on the one hand, I'd feel bad if Anet just did all that work on an expansion to become forgotten content. On the other hand, I only have four incentives to engage with SoTO: 1) Finishing the mastery lines, for Skyscale boosts, Convergence boosts, and for completionist stuff. 2) Going to the Wizard's Tower for the XP boost. 3) Convergences, if I'm feeling it (for some reason) 4) The Inner Nayos Metas, which I find to be pretty fun. 4.1) I need to finish the obsidian breastplate, so I'll probably do the other content until that's done, but I haven't particularly enjoyed Skywatch Archipelago or Amnytas. So, I think those maps, and maybe Inner Nayos Meta 3, will become similar to Gyala Delve, at least based on my experiences.

It seems like nayos was just horrible all together, I don't see a whole lot of point to do the three metas. It's wild to think that they put all that work in for it to be abandoned, however they just aren't profitable. I'm kinda done with soto all together- however weapon master and some new player stuff were good. It does feel like a play and forget type of content though.

Go for healer set always if you like to play it, thats will open you more opportunity for LFG, and soto will be replayeable just because of the legendary armors, just like the raids

I think raids are worth just with the magnetite shards and raw gold. I'll definitely go with heal set, seems to be popular consensus

I think heal set is a better option. Condi set mostly gives a better dps for some content but in PuG it is not so important. But abiliti to sitch role to a or q heal is big boost to save time on forming group or squad. As for SoTo i belive it will stay some ok goldfarm option and few players will be there to do metas. New converter is good if you take into account how easy it is farm SOTO maps currency compared to HoT maps and yet you get the same rewards. Though strike missions are getting out of control with a number of hubs. If Anet keep adding new strike hub every year it would be a bit odd on daily/weekly rotation.

I think if the converter had useful items that you got out of it. I'm not sure if there are any high rolls tied to it since I haven't done the mastery yet. I'm really hoping there are fractal CM fixes but right now I think more than anything I'm just ready for the next stuff.

In my opinion, heal set! Power virt is getting some buffs coming 25th June so maybe there will be less emphases on condi virt, which would be nice for you since you're running power chrono atm. I struggle to see people doing SOTO content outside of trying to get their leggie armor... Convergences, rifts, etc are all for legendary armor, nothing more or less. The metas aren't even that "fun" as they are long (as compared to the HoT stuff you mentioned outside of Dragon's stand) with the inner nayos final meta requiring two other metas to be completed -_- it's just sooooo long with the reward not even feeling worth it all. The epic feeling of looting all the chests in auric basin or looting the noxious pods in dragon stand needs to be emulated in the new expac, soto kinda feels undersalted. Although I do still have fun with the metas once in awhile, they don't feel as good to show up to as the HoT ones

I think I'm leaning that way too just because as a healer you can hard carry groups. I'm very interested In power virt especially because I'm not the greatest at power chrono. I should be able to pull about 10k more on power virt lol

The thing with SotO Leggy Armor is that, most of the try hards already have their leggy armor via Raid WvW etc. and for casuals its way too much of a grind. I think there'll still be a decent chunk of SotO enjoyers a few packs down the line, but I don't think there'll be as frequent Convergence CM runs for example, like now I sometimes see Conv. CM LFGs 7 in the morning and they still fill up rather quickly. I don't think that will happen a few months later. I personally need the leggy armor because I do a lot of T4 fractals and have the money, but raid gate keeping is keeping me away from raids, and I like SotO armor better, especially light one, despite T2 being really bad imo. So people like me will keep it alive, but it won't be as alive. Like I'll never play a single SotO map after I finish my light armor set. I already have the heavy one complete and I am done with 2/6 for light armor. I already have everything I could want for Medium with tons of ascended so I'll finish light and move on. Maybe I'll come back a year or two later but I need a break. The thing I mostly want in the future is 5 and 10 people PvE encounters unified under their own single consistent system, and renamed to things commonly known in the MMO space. For example who knows what the fractals are but everyone knows dungeons. Fractals are still technically called dungeons I know, but imo they should just make each of the current dungeons with their own paths into their own fractals and just call the whole system as "dungeons". Same thing with strikes, rename them to Raids, if a Raid has to have multiple encounters they can combine strikes, throw a bunch of trash mobs and circle mechanics in between the bosses and call it a day. Also make them consistent, like the latest wing will have a OW version, NM, CM, and LCM. Add those things to the existing raids as well, for consistency. Also have the dungeons and raids all share the same currency for their own systems, except the latest expansion content so that people with the currency wont access the new stuff instantly. What I said in the second paragraph is really oversimplied and what I am telling there would be really hard to implement and would probably hinder new content development so they'll never do that. People will always prefer a new raid over old raid overhauls with new difficulty settings for example. But it would solve the "hat on a hat" problem.

Not consolidating the currencies is rough. When I heard the release schedule for these annual "mini" expacs I knew things like currency consolidation weren't going to have the dev time anymore. Unless it's a main staple of a new expac, the thing you want fixed is probably never getting touched again in my opinion. Could be wrong but I doubt it.

I'm not burned out on SotO maps yet (because I've hardly played them, except for the one time story play through) . I don't blame you for feeling miserable playing those maps, as they don't seem to be much fun to play on, and reading your comment, as well as other players comments and replies, just confirms my own feelings about those maps and why I have avoided them. I had thought about trying to craft the SotO Legendary armor, but I think I'm going back to doing Raids to finish the original PvE Legendary armor instead, specially since we are getting a new Raid wing with the next expansion.

I don't know how to answer this. If your playtime is significantly off from NA or EU you can try the opposite server. My playtime actually lines up with EU playtime more but I have horrible ping.
