My favorite Side Quests are actually ones with their own isolated stories. Ones you can explore at your own pace but get rewarded for doing. Dragon Quest X's vocation side quests are a great example of what I'm thinking. As for minigames; nothing beats Triple Triad. I like post-game content when it's a continuation of the story. Maybe another foe pops up in the old one's place or something completely unrelated. I just love extra story. Also I am a person that loves multiple endings, and I've been a huge nerd for Dark Souls lore and Bloodborne/Demon's Souls so all the discussion on that was fun to listen to. For every ending of bloodborne, since there's not that many, I just went New Game+ to New Game+ back to back, beat the game 3 times in one day.

There is some extra post game content that pissed me off recently though in Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince. I will separate this part from another paragraph because spoilers The fact that they separated the Estarks the way they did was super interesting but it really ticked me off that we didn't get an ounce of closure on one of the Estarks that were built up until post game. It just irritated me to have to beat the game to even look at Estark Venjah while Dumas and Izmah were par for the course. It didn't even feel like they put much thought into Venjah, it felt like they just slotted it in the Whispwoods because they didn't know where else to put it

Yeah I’m a huge SoulsBorne fan, so I always find a way to bring it up lmao FF XIV’s job and role quests are always great side quests too, so I know what you mean.

I'm not a side quests guy, I do them when I am having fun with a game. But ghost of tsushima made them really fun it added to the immersion for me, felt like I was really helping those NPCs.

The side quests in chrono trigger were perfect, and id do them again no problems. Great rewards and story lore. In rebirth i think my completionist mind set is what messed things up for me since i'd do every side quest as it became available. Not the fault of the game but my own hang up. Guess it can be better than miss able stuff?

There’s definitely a lot of side content, and it doesn’t help that to get the platinum you have to do almost all of it twice
