September is bringing all my favorite things; pumpkins, leaves falling, and a chill in the air. The garden looks so beautiful in fall, and I'd love to share it with you all! Join me for a tour of my backyard cottage garden in Zone 6 Connecticut!

Congratulations 🥳 on your 1k+ subs Laura. Wow that jigsaw pepper is amazing. Fall is my favourite season as it’s cooler and we can make plans for the next season. Your garden is looking amazing and I like you love self seeding plants 😂, less work. Have a simply awesome week, Ali 🌦️🇨🇦

Thank you so much! Self seeders are quickly becoming some of my favorites, and ageratum is a great one. I also really love larkspur as a self seeder too! Have a great week Ali!

How exciting to have a new area to plan and play with, can't wait to see you plans for the former pool area. I too have an are due to a dying maple tree so I'm pulling the shade plants and having a blast planning a new sun area! Congrats on 1k subscribers!

Thank you so much! And yes, it is exciting, nd a bit intimidating, but I think I've gotten a better feel for the "flow" of the land, and that helps with the whole vision, if that makes sense. Sorry about your tree, but it sounds like you're enjoying planning the new bed. Good luck with your project!

You are so lucky to be able to grow a crepe myrtle. I'm in Ontario Canada zone 5b-6a. we can't grow them here due to high winds.

Thanks! We'll see how lucky come spring time... This is my first try at growing one, as we're right on the cusp on 6B/7A. This one says it's good down to zone 6, so fingers crossed that it lives through the winter!

I've always ignored ageratum but I realize I am missing out! It's great that they self-sow; it will save you room in your greenhouse this winter! And I have fallen in love with the Sirius Blue salvia - I adore salvias - and will definitely start some this spring. Is your cup and saucer vine on the moon arbor planted in part shade, full sun, or what? How early did you start it? Your gardens look great, with lots of interest this time of year, which takes work to achieve. Looking forward to seeing how your rock garden grows next spring...

Thanks so much! The cup and saucer is in pretty much full sun, it's right on the cusp on full sun/part shade. I have been reading up a bit on it lately because I wanted to save seed from it, but apparently that is not going to be so easy! I got the 2 that I have as starts from Select Seeds. I am so in love with them, though, I am about to order seeds for spring from them. It will be interesting to see if I can do as well with them from seed, fingers crossed. Thank you for your support, I love the garden in fall. I only wish I got to spend more time there, I get so busy this time of year. Happy Fall!

@@thepurplepumpkinpatch I planted cup and saucer vine seeds on February 28; only 1 of 5 sprouted and it has really languished in a very large pot... I'm thinking of starting some in December this year.

@@sassafrasinspired2029 I heard they can be tricky to start from seed. I say December sounds good, I love starting things super early!

Congrats on 1000 subscribers! Did you winter sow the cup and saucer or start from seed in the house or greenhouse? I’ve never grown it but will try it now after seeing yours. Garden looks great, love the birdhouse gourds..I planted seed but didn’t have any success, will try again next year and protect them from the birds, I think they may have eaten the seeds.

Thank you! And I actually did not start the cup and saucer vine. I picked it up as a seedling at a really cool greenhouse sale that Select Seeds was having at the very end of spring. I'm lucky enough to live nearby. I remember when I picked it up that someone else there mentioned they hadn't had good luck with them, so I was nervous but they have been so great! They do sell the seeds I believe on www.selectseeds.com . Now that I know about them I am definitely going to be ordering seeds from them. The birdhouse gourds were fun to grow, but interestingly the vines are a little stinky, they give off a little bit of a smell when handled, different than a pumpkin vine for sure. But the vines were also softer, which I liked because pumpkins can be pretty sharp sometimes!
