+david hoenig +david hoenig It was aired only for Cartoon Network Latin America (I think). I grew up watching Dexter's Lab and Johnny Bravo and classic Garfield. Anyway... This was an ingenious way to promote the Gardfield show, in my opinion, because it was a really BIG contrast to the real version: friendly and hilarious. However, many kids (the little ones) didn't get the joke and caused some little traumas. Lol. That was fucked up, but yet effective. We, the "latin" kids from that generation, miss the old cartoon network, just like some of you, in U.S.A., or Canada.

The most jarring thing about The Garfield Show is that the writers still write the character of Jon as if he was the "straight man" type character that he was for like the first 10 years of the comic strip, while as we all know in the comic he then rappidly evolved into a kind of bordeline delusional ultra-loser (the version that is used to create the "Garfield minus Garfield" strips). In other words this show ignores what the character has been for the past three decades or so and instead resets him to what he was originally. Which is a shame because I would love to see an animated adaption of the borderline-delusional ultra-loser.

One of the weirdest voice changes to this show for me was Nermal. I'll grant when Desiree Goyette was voicing him in Garfield and Friends I thought for the longest time he was a girl, but once I got used to it the young voice was just fitting. Suddenly shifting to Jason Marsden kept making me ask when Tino from The Weekenders or Chester McBadbat (post Frankie Munez) turned into a kitten.

I feel more _okay_ with the idea of someone else voicing Batman and Joker, mostly because they are both characters that have been around for nearly 80 years and have been played time and time again by many, _many_ actors. Live action alone has had what, at least 5 different live action Jokers and 8 Batmen? Then there are the numerous Batman cartoons that came before the 90s animated series and multiple features even after the show. Though I confess that when I imagine their voices, Conroy and Hamill are the two that instantly come to mind.

While everyone else looks.... okay, Jon looks HORRIBLE in 3D. My mind doesn't even register his face as something remotely human. Also, while simple untextured shapes look alright in 2D, they really stand out in 3D and make it look "lazy" even if it was an artistic choice.

It’s a common thing for characters to look a bit off when converting 2d characters to 3d unless the company is a powerhouse in animation like Disney or even Paramount. When animating for 2d, you’re taking something like a ball or a dog that’s already 3d and making it 2d. But when you’re animating for 3d, you have to take something that started off as 2d and somehow figure out how to make it be three-dimensional and still look appealing. I think that’s what this show didn’t consider.

The funny thing is that due to me watching this show religiously when I was little (from what I can remember Cartoon Network played this show a lot), and now I find any other Garfield voice weird, even the original Garfield And Friends voice. Also, I find the fourth wall jokes quite charming.

I saw the the original in the morning on syndication in the 2000s before school quite a bit, they only showed the first 2 seasons but I was quite familiar with Lorenzo Music and once I found out this thing existed I found Garfield's voice quite jarring and wasn't exactly blown away by the animation(in general i'm not big on most 3-D animated shows as I prefer 2-D stuff and there were a lot of ugly-ass 3-D shows in the 2000s like Fanboy and Chum Chum).

Fun Fact: In an episode of Garfield and Friends and the U. S. Acres segment, Bo Sheep imitated Garfield to fool Orson's mean brothers. Soon, after Lorenzo Music's passing, Frank voiced him in the movie trilogy. After that he became Garfield's permanent voice actor in The Garfield Show.

My problem with every animated adaption of Garfield was that I always throught that without exception, they got the character wrong in this way. They made the character TOO MOBILE!!!! In the comic, Garfield was portrayed as a lazy, lump who just sat there. He wouldn't move unless he had to. He was fat. He was lazy. He slept all the time. He was just sarcastic about putting effort toward anything aside from getting rid of the dog or other things that annoyed him. In the animated shows and movies, they felt the need to have him running around, dancing, bouncing all over the place, etc like he was full of energy as if he had drank multiple pots of coffee. The movies were especially guilty of this. The entire point of the comic was "Lazy cat". The writers of the shows keep dropping the "Lazy Cat" premise and just make the show "Cartoon Cat" instead.

Dee Bradley Baker would be a better fit for Garfield's voice because some of his speaking roles in Avatar TLA, SpongeBob, etc sound a wee bit like Lorenzo Music. He's a voice acting God like Frank Welker, so this shouldn't be too tough for him. (That's why I like to call Dee Baker Frank Welker Junior at times.)

ElFreakinCid I do not doubt that you never heard this. but I also lived through the nineties. It was in mostly in teen shows and movies with shallow or vapid characters and aimed at girls. I don't know the names but I think Sara Michelle Gellar was one who did it in a few roles. Also real people I knew did it. I even knew someone who said "La sigh", (a la Pepe La Pew). It was used somewhat sarcastically I believe.

Seems like every childhood show is getting a CG makeover. Garfield, Astrix, Swan Princess, Rugrats. Some may look good like Astrix. Others look decent like Garfield. But others like Swan Princess, and especially Rugrats do not translate well into 3D form.

Heathcliff was gonna get a reboot 2011 but got cancelled and so did the 2013 there's might be a heathcliff cgi reboot 2020 or 2021 but chances are unlikely
