The bronze statuette with the long-handled mallet and holding the bowl of mead is SUCELLUS the Thunder-Striker. He holds the mallet as the means by which he struck thunder and lightning like the Germanic god Thor and the Greek god ZEUS from the sky. "Sucellus" is the Latinized and Italianus diminuitive of the Gaelic version "SUCEL", (pronounced "Soosel") which meant "hammer" and was derived from the Greek form "ZEUS". COINCIDENTALLY, he was ALSO called "ESUS"!! Sound familiar?? 🧐🤔

Best thing about celtic helmets is parts are separate and built to move Like gallic cavelry who wore a helmet with a bronze birds but a wings were built to flap while charging. This comes more from the dacian side since Eastern celts believed the spirit animal had wings a servant body and wolf head Western helmets used to have boar tusks since boar was the spirit animal in Western celts

@daimonioshellene5 жыл бұрын
@@jonathanOschlaepfer can you mention some Gaulish subgroups?
@jonathanOschlaepfer5 жыл бұрын
@@daimonioshellene Of course, and my apologies, I didn't mean to say sub groups I meant tribes but the Individual tribes did have their own traditions and cultures. Some Gaulish/Gallic Tribes are Aedui Helvetti Atrebates Nervii These are just 4 of them. If you want to find out more about them just simply Google " List of Gallic Tribes " and it will have more info on each of these tribes and more. But an example of different traditions would be how the Helvetti lived in the majority of modern day Switzerland and they would have different a different culture, customs, food, and even slightly different dialect than the other tribes. P.S. if you do more research on Celtic/Gallic/Germanic tribes or any ancient groups you may want to stay away from Reddit pages. Stick to factual evidence. A lot of people tend to obtain racist ideals based on the tribes and say they are "Descendants" of any tribe and are "Pure" blooded. Sorry for the long paragraph and any grammar issues

Ooooh, horned helmets didn’t exist. That’s a modern trope invented for stage to make Norsemen look scarier.
@lowlandnobleman6746 Жыл бұрын
Not true for the Celtic tribes. The Norse were not ancient Celts. Norse did not make use of horned helmets, but the Gauls (the people actually represented in the video) occasionally did. Mind you, not all Gaulish helmets had horns. Most were bereft of such decorative embellishments. The horned ones usually had straight horns, though. I personally prefer the more practical Gaulish helmets that didn’t have the strange-looking horns.
