I love this podcast! I don’t love everything Nietzsche says, but in my pursuit of truth he does challenge me to rationalize my opinions and either discover their origins or let them go. I haven’t listened to this episode, I’m on 49, but wanted to express my gratitude.

55:11 I always understood that the powerful person is reluctant to express power in this harmful way not because he fears that that would hurt his powerful image and thus decrease his feeling of power but because its just untasteful to him, its a low hanging fruit and not at all a challenge. But I imagine that he still retains that option to hurt others if he feels like it and would not worry of how would this affect his image. Great episode btw the gay science was my introduction to Nietzsche and it's still my favorite🤍.

33:07 This is even true in the development as we age, as a child when a candy can be heaven also a scratch can be torture. Most of us probably never get the kind of "butterflies in your stomache" intensity of romantric feelings as in their youth later in life but the intensity of heartbreak feelings also decreases. "Adult rationality" is a kind of numbness
@sunofpeter23 ай бұрын
I don’t think the intensity of heartbreak decreases. If you are a parent and having a child taken from is the worst feeling your heart will ever feel.
@alexanderleuchte51323 ай бұрын
@@sunofpeter2 I meant of course specifically the heartbreak from romantic in romantic releationships. The connection to a child is on a very basal level as mammals way deeper not even talking about more complex psychology. Sorry if you speak from experience

Hi salt, I’m not sure where to ask this question but hopefully you might include this in your next Q&A. What did Nietzsche write about Platonic forms? Does he assert that objects/ideas can have a supreme ideal, from which every representation is derived, which can only be understood in the abstract (Similar to Schopenhauer), or does he view platonic ideals as pointless abstraction. I imagine he would tend towards the latter considering his assertion that reality shapes the philosophy, not the other way round. Love your videos and music btw

12:20 This is very true in regards to the europea middle ages and probably the time of the Samurai as examples but of course pre-civillized tribal communities were way more structured according to the reliance on eachother for survival and not consisting of wild animals. As a sidenote: The documentary "Secrets of the Tribe" sheds an interesting light on the kind of "Super Adventure Club " surprisingly much of western Ethnology seems to be. It also questions the validity of a study aimed at proving the theory mentioned at 48:43 with the Yanomami as subjects

Check out Derek Parfit reasons and persons. He delves deep into that question on does the person die if the self that makes that person changes. He argues it’s kind of like a state. What makes France is it the people or is it the borders. It’s a very interesting read if you are into that kind of mind fuck.

Another sidenote: Aren't Dawkins theories completely outdated at this point because the whole underlaying concept of the genome as a "blueprint" with certain genes determining certain attributes is proven to be an oversimplification to the degree that it is simply false?
@epajarjestys99813 ай бұрын
Can you point to some sources proving that notion to be false? Not that I'm doubting what you say. I just would like to learn about it.
@alexanderleuchte51323 ай бұрын
@@epajarjestys9981 If you want a quick overview in video format watch f.e. : "You've Been Lied To About Genetics".
