@NailTheBasics2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I also struggle to find videos without an efile being used so I'm glad this was helpful for you! You just need to file down the bulk & remove any lifting around the edges 😊

Great video. Can you help me, I'm new to doing gel nails at home. I use the builder gel and then normal gel colour on top but I'm confused when it comes to re doing them. Do I file back to my natural nail or leave the previous builder gel on and previous colour?. HELP XXX
@NailTheBasics4 жыл бұрын
Hey! So when re-doing them you can file off all the gel colour and top coat, refine the builder gel to a nice smooth layer and make sure to file off any lifted areas then infill the builder and apply a new colour etc 😊
@curly1474 жыл бұрын
Nail The Basics thank you so much for replying that's really helpful. I'm 55 years old and had gel nails for at least 10 years but when the pandemic hit I just tried looking after my nails myself and I enjoyed doing it and have not gone back to the salon. I invested in all the nail kit and I've learnt to do gel nails by watching KZbin tutorials like your own. I've made mistakes and I'm constantly learning. They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks😂😂😂😂. Thank you💗

Of course, I hope that helps you!! There’s always teething errors when just starting out but just stick with it, you’ll get there! Another tip that may help you whilst starting out is to just do 1 or 2 nails at a time then cure them and carry on, this way you can take your time 🥰💜

Nail The Basics that is a great idea because I do tend to start to rush and then sometimes smudge one of the nails!!!! Thank you so much for your help. Ps I've just ordered some nail foils to put snow flakes on so I'm looking forward to giving that a go💅🏼💗

Perfect! 😊 Yep just make sure you file away all of the lifted area, you'll just need to apply more builder gel in that area and possibly need to buff it before top coating to blend 💜

Does the color gel builder worker better then the clear gel? Because I purchase the clear one so that it can be compatibles with some light color but its just peel off so easy pls help me get through this thank you
@NailTheBasics4 жыл бұрын
@@lindahoang272 Hi Linda! With the clear builder gel you need to apply a base coat otherwise it will just peel off! It’s also worth noting that clear builder gel is file off, not soak off 💕

Do I used acetone to wipe off the tacky layer? And then buff?
@NailTheBasics4 жыл бұрын
Buff the nail, then wipe with acetone, apply your base layer & cure for 60 seconds, apply your clear builder gel in 2 layers - curing for 60 seconds after each layer. Then wipe with acetone and refine if needed (I find clear builder leaves more of a greasy sticky residue than usual) once you have wiped you can proceed with your colour gel and top coat 😊 Hope that helps!

Love your video! I am a cosmetologist but definitely do better with hair! Lol! However, I do love The Gel Bottle inc. Do you think I could file down my acrylics to a thin layer and then apply biab over top? I want to slowly transition back to BIAB but don't want to completely soak off my acrylics. Also what grit file do you use to buff the natural nail with to prep before BIAB?

How often can u do infill for this? Arent they gonna get more thicker and thicker?
@NailTheBasics2 жыл бұрын
You need to really file down the bulk of the gel so they don’t get too thick. I only infill twice then remove everything & start fresh 💕
@lillyspelman24792 жыл бұрын
I got taught you can infill 3x would you not suggest this ?
@spaingirl873 жыл бұрын
This may be a silly question as I don't really paint my nails much, but why not just remove the nail polish and do it over since u are going to paint again anyways? Wouldn't u save time from all the buffing? Sry I just paint with regular nail polish, not gel.
@NailTheBasics3 жыл бұрын
Hey, no silly questions here! 😊 If the gel has grown out but lasted well there is no need to remove it all, infilling is generally a quicker process than soaking everything off and starting again. You also save product as you place the bulk of it in the regrowth area. Hope that makes sense 💛

Yes you could try out Aimeili, i've had a good experience with their gels & they're super affordable! Also, Madam Glam is another option aswell 😊 Builder Gels are similar to apply but id refer to guidelines from specific brands as some need base coats and some already have base coat in them! 💜

I'm confused, don't you have to hold your hand upside down to get the correct BIAB shape? I have the clear BIAB and if I waited to paint all nails and didnt hold them upside down, it would run all into my cuticles. Can anyone explain? Maybe the colors or the new colors are thicker?
@NailTheBasics4 жыл бұрын

@NailTheBasics4 жыл бұрын
File over the grown out gel portion of the nail, you want to file until you can see all of the top coat has been removed, keep going until there is a nice refined even layer with no lifting left on the nail. You can then move your file back slightly and lightly buff the new exposed natural nail 😊 Hope that helps! 💜

Why my colour bottle is very thick comparing to the video
@NailTheBasics2 жыл бұрын
Some colours are different consistencies! It could also be the temperature, I live in Australia, warmer temperatures generally make the gel a thinner consistency and easier to work with! 💜
