I only wish our history teachers would have taught us this instead of the Renaissance. Much more interesting and enthralling for teens back in day! Yes, I’m OLD! 🇦🇺🖐😘

First came Marshall . . . then came Eisenhower. Both became infamous for their effectiveness . . . in both spheres - Military, Civilian. Such may bought the rise of that phrase - Citizen/Soldier. 🇺🇸

I think you meant famous, not infamous. You are right if that's what you meant.

@Paul Suprono The odd part that I don't think you realize is, when Eisenhower was running for President, he did this speech with Senator Joseph McCarthy of Wisconsin the Red Scare guy (he did this inquisition where he accused everyone of having Communist allegiance, it was a witch hunt and a bad period of US history), where he bashed George C. Marshall publicly. Harry S. Truman was pissed because Marshall made Eisenhower (career). But he never responded. He just took the insult and they never patched things up.

Interesting that neither Marshall nor Eisenhower ever held a combat command, yet both achieved General of the Army, and were best known for their management and political skills...in a profession where political stances are prohibited. They’re true strength was in picking competent combat commanders, like Smith, Bradley, and Patton.
