Totally agree 100% with your categories! I feel like the music industry evolves in parallel with the internet as well. By the 3rd gen social media would have helped with reaching a wider audience and internationalizing it but 4th and 5th gen is really when gen Z, who have literally grown up knowing KZbin and posting their entire life on Intsagram, got old enough to discover VKei.

You really found a good structure. It makes absolutely more sence nowdays than the old subgenre thing.(I also struggled with that to when my teacher in school wanted me to hold a presentation about vkei....I just heard it for a half year and I was absolutely hard thinking which band to put into which category) Oh yeah the KZbin things😆 But Iove that so much content from the favorit bands.

Me being a fan since 2004 I skipped the 4th generation but I feel like the 5th generation is actually turning out quite good.

This new video is interessing 😊. I know visual kei since the 3rd generation . The 3rd and 4th generations have many emissions on Nico Nico Douga because this plateform was more popular than KZbin . You right, they use more KZbin than before. For artists who show their face with no makeup , it's not a knew. For examples :An Cafe, Alice Nine, all B.P . Records bands maybe since 2010 ? But you're right this is more common recently than before.

I started with the 2nd generation and worked my way back to the 1st then back up to the 3rd lol. When I was a senior in High School around late 06' early 07' I noticed that Gazette and Nightmare had gotten really popular in my small town around the Boston area with people that had no idea what Visual Kei was, especially amongst the sophomores and below. In 2005 I remember is when D'espairsRay started to perform a lot in small venues on the east coast and Dir en Grey in early 06'. I saw Mucc in 08' during the Taste of Chaos tour with D'espairsRay, Avenged Sevenfold and Bullet for my Valentine.. I remember all the people in the crowd booing MUCC really badly.. That was so sad to see.. Wrong crowd.
