An excellent, excellent film with outstanding performances all around. Firth’s portrayal is so quiet, subtle you might think it’s nothing. You would be so wrong. Definitely worth a watch.

This is one great movie. The acting is superb. The actors completely dissolve themselves in their characters.

Each actor gave a superb performance; each added so much depth and color to the overall film. For people who appreciate Wolfe also love Fitzgerald and Hemingway.

I can not believe the character Max doesn’t even take his hat off at the dinner table. Unheard of in the 1920’s through 1950’s

@hillcrock. You're right, it was considered very rude for a man to not remove his hat when he came inside, much ruder to not remove his hat at the table. I was a child in the '50s & my father always wore a hat when outside, as did most men, whether a work hat or a sports hat (straw) or a business hat or a hat for dressing up. I'm sorry I can't remember the details but someone explained in the comment section of the film that he wore a hat even at dinner & at his office desk because he had a health condition & wore his hat all the time to alleviate symptoms. I think u can find this info in the comments section of the film itself. This required dress code was strong through the '50s, eroding only in the early to mid '60s, along with an incredible number of other rules re: attire. Endless rules about proper attire for day, evening, business, etc.
