I just discovered him about a month ago and I've caned KZbin and seen just about everything he's done and I concur, this fella is a full on genius. If Quincy Jones says he's the greatest talent in his life time, I listen.

I was amazed when I saw him do this at the Kennedy Center. But he just doesn't do diatonic triads. He's been known to do little chromatic drops and rise sometimes and he also does a sort of rhythmic vocalization with some audiences which is a bit like a drum machine with different sections doing different sounds. He was partly inspired by the audience interactions of Bobby McFerrin. So great you got to see him live. I figured he would get more creative than triads as it's plainly obvious how amazing he is as a musician. I had read about the comparison between his live shows and Bobby McFerrin's. Both great entertainers and so very unique. Fun fact: we filmed this video about 2 months ago and planned for it to release today. Had NO IDEA about his new album when we did it, so it just turned out to be really good timing. 😲 Thanks for sharing all of this great info! We will definitely check it out!

Will do. We caught some of the video of him coaching Tori Kelly through vocal lines for the arrangement. Very impressive. Tori Kelly was even surprised by how they put it all together.

@@dannyrobertsonmusic I just discovered Jacob, like a few days ago, and I'm beside myself. Completely blown away. I came across the video you're talking about with Tori Kelly where he's feeding Tori the lines, and she can just repeat it immedaitely, no matter how dissonant or complex it is. By the way, Tori Kelly is like the best vocalist I ever heard. I am mesmerized by both of them.

A couple friends of mine met Tori Kelly several years ago in a "Tea with Tori" before she went on stage that evening. From what I heard, she was very friendly and took lots of pictures with everyone.

I just discovered her a couple weeks ago when she was on American Idol, where she blew me away with her guest performance (I know, I live under a rock). What a powerhouse. Have you analyzed her song, Oceans, on her new album? That is a vocal masterpiece, IMHO.
