So nice to see another podcast! I saved a quiet, uninterrupted time today to view this. So refreshing. The Lost Words is a beautiful book but how sad the words have been excluded from the Oxford Junior Dictionary. The illustrations alone are more than worth the price of the book. Marina, much of what I knit is actually easier than it looks. It's just a matter of trying things out, and Youtubing techniques that are not familiar till you become acquainted with them. And making lots of mistakes along the way. The good thing with knitting is that you can always rip it out if it doesn't work for you xo

It's really lovely to see you again Nicole, I love your podcasts, they give me the feeling of having a catch up with a friend in a warm, cosy, welcoming space, thank you, I really appreciate and enjoy this time. I must say that I am happy that your wool sensitivity seems to be temporary, I hope that it stays that way, I know how you love your woolly wools, I won't use the term rustic as it's not helpful. I loved the winter walk you took us on, I live in Liverpool in the UK and we tend only to get snow once in a decade, if that, so it was even more special to see the beautiful snowy woodland. You always inspire me and I want to say thank you for that In 2021 I am going to do my first ever colour work piece and my first steek, I will start with a mug rug and work up from there. I just love The Lost Words. I have been waiting for the book stores to reopen to go and buy a copy. I fell in love with Robert McFarlane quite by accident and it's nice to hear from someone else who enjoys his writing. Your fern socks look beautiful. So glad you can wear your rustic wools again - they're so amazing. I visit New Brunswick regularly and I discovered the Briggs and Little on my first trip and isn't it such great wool - as you say, it's a real workhorse. I made a lot of the "saltwater" knits in 2020 and I see a lot more of the B and L in knitting bag for 2021. Have a wonderfully happy and healthy new year.

I totally agree with you about the Into the Woods socks. What a shame they don't match. I wonder if you wind the yarn from the other end it would be less mottled and you could re-knit the 2nd sock. I have stopped buying hand dyed yarn for that very reason. It is a pretty pattern though. I would re-knit in your favorite rustic yarn. Good luck.

@@thegentleknitter Oh that´s great. I find your projects very tasteful and they have an elegant look to them. I ´m German and I sometimes find the style overseas differs from ours but in your case you could well pass for a French or Scandinavian. Happy knitting!

Your problems with wool sensitivity really hit home for me! I have severe eczema that became the worst it's ever been over the winter. I couldn't wear wool--rustic or superwash or any jewelry, perfume, hair product, etc. It was so tough not being able to indulge in any of my knits. Even knitting with rustic wools made my skin break out. I'm so glad that you aren't suffering from that anymore! You're right--on the grand scheme of things it's not the worst, but it's hard when knitting is such a coping mechanism for so many of us.

Hi Nicole, I have been watching your podcasts these last couple of months and enjoy them so much! Funny enough I am local to you but only stumbled on your channel in 2020. If I happen to see around sometime (once we are out of lockdown 😔) I will definitely say hi. Wishing you the very best in 2021! 😊

I‘ve watched the first upload of this episode and didn‘t even notice that it was blurry. 😅 Here is a copy of my comment from the other video: Such another lovely episode. I absolutely enjoyed the intro and the outro, especially the outro. Thank you for taking me to this magical quiet snowy place. 😌 Your colour work projects are so pretty and I am happy for you that your wool sensitivity is almost completely gone. Happy New Year to you and your loved ones dear Nicole. ~ Kat

Just found your lovely channel through Knitting traditions youtube channel. Loved the singing at the introduction. Also love the shawl you're wearing and saved the pattern on my ravelry account for when I can hopefully buy it one day. Like the Katie Kep too (because it's my name). And I also envy your book collection in the background. I have also subscribed. Thanks for sharing.

I have been watching your podcast from the start over the last couple of weeks. Now I am almost at present time. I am careful not to watch too much now so that you will last longer... like the Mariage Frères tea from Paris you once mentioned. Thank you for every time you took to bring knitting gentleness over the big ocean to my knitting refuge.

Thank you for another great episode! The Setesdal cardigan you showed is typical for the Setesdal region in Norway - Telemark og Vestfold (just Telemark prior to 2020) If you search Ravelry for "Setesdal" you'll get quite a few patterns up, Annemor Sundbø is a Norwegian with a wast knowledge on Setesdal kofter (cardigans/sweaters) - and has a book on her homepage "Setesdal Sweaters" if you're interested in the tradition and the history

Wonderful to find a podcast from someone so local! I also live in Ottawa. In case it works for you, I am part of a knitting group that meets at the St. Laurent branch of the Ottawa Public Library. At least, we did until a year ago. So, when the warmer weather comes, we'll be meeting on the lawn outside the library. Tuesday afternoons, 1:30-3:30. It would be lovely to meet you.

I was so interested in tge Lost Words book and concept Nicole! How unfortunate it is that such basic words from the beauty that surrounds us, are discarded. Also, I am as crazy as you: I got Erika Aberg's book too and plan to knit from it using google translate too 😄 Thank you for the beautiful podcast! Je suis très contente que ta sensibilité aux fils plus rustiques s'améliore... Je te souhaite une très belle année 2021 avec un retour à la santé!

I have really enjoyed this episode. Have bought the Walk in the Fern pattern and the book The Lost Words. I am appalled the Oxford dictionary has removed such essential words. How could they? I want to just cry. Thank you for bringing such wonderful content.

I’m always so happy when I see you have a new episode up! I have made Skeindeer’s Kosekofte and I will say it’s a delight to knit. So cool how you plan to switch out the colorwork pattern on it! I’m too inexperienced a knitter to attempt such a thing, but I look forward to seeing your result! It will be gorgeous!

Hello, I am writing to share with you how very special your podcast is. I subscribed a little while ago. The beginning introduction of your podcast spoke to me profoundly - there is something about you singing in French - and the beauty of the things you keep in your Knitting room - and spinning yarn! It's so beautiful! I feel like I've done this in another life - and it is a Sacred Movement that has kept me close to the Earth. I just Love what you are doing with yarn and projects - and choosing natural materials and dyes. Sending love and gratitude to you and a big hug! 🙂❤🧡💛💚💙💜 with love, Lori from Santa Fe, NM, USA.

Thank you Nicole for such a wonderful podcast. Your podcasts are my peaceful place. And I learn so much! I was intrigued by your pine tea. We once had a pine IPA beer in Skagway Alaska and it was quite good! I’m waiting anxiously for my copy of Shetland Wool Week but have you also seen the Shetland Wool Adventures Journal vol.1? There is knitting and recipes, Shetland stories. The proceeds go to local businesses. I found it online at the Ewetopia Fiber Shop. I hope I make it to Shetland one day! Bless you and Happy New Year!
