School education ensures us to have a mental picture of India map and we are capable of locating where is Punjab or Tamil Nadu. Yet we do not have a mental picture of where are those janapadas (kingdoms) mentioned in our Veda, Ithiāsa, Purāanas are located. An ordinary person is unable to locate where is Pānchala the kingdom of Pānchali or where is Gāndhara, the kingdom of Gāndhari. Yet there is enough information to create a digital map of Bhāratavarsha in our ancient texts.
This talk is about familiarizing the reader to recognize the janapadas mentioned in the Mahābhārata both the popular ones like Kuru, Pānchāla and rare references of Chīna, Darada and Kāmboja.
About Speaker: -
Jijith Nadumuri Ravi is the founder of the Website AncientVoice which contains 23500 pages on Mahabharata, Ramayana, the four Vedas and Vishnu Purana. It contains ancient India maps, analysis articles, lineage maps, the full text of English translation of these texts in Wikified form with 7000 plus nouns analysed creating huge information networks of Indic texts.
The author additionally hosts websites like Nalanda, Takshasila and RecentVoice, focusing on Greek, Avestan and Tamil literature. He was a former ISRO scientist (2001-2006) and an artist who loves to paint events from Mahabharata.

So basically your statement is just repeated tape, of newly formed wanna be intelectual far right, that got nothing original of their own, but want a place in history, which they never belonged. It's really getting irritating now, how same statement is repeated a 1000 times, but when asked what your version of history is, they get quite. Also hypocrisy of right is very evident, you hate muslim rule of 600 years, where india was regarded as one of the richest, have 24% of global economy. But you people remain absolutely silent about british rule , which exploited india and reduced it to 2% of global economy. Reason of Hypocracy is very simple. Far right came to india due to british divide and rule policy, so basically british chale gaye but apne bande chor gaye. And you people got to swear on indian secular idea, which flows in veins of our Holy Land. Our ancestors were used to be liberal, secular only but now it has become a swear world in mouth of some illiterate far right gawar, who can't even speak one word of originality. What a shame.

Incredible work, @jijith_nr! I wish MHRD or Ministry of Culture would sponsor long-term research into our epics with a multidisciplinary approach. Bring together scientists, archaeologists, hydrologists, astronomers, Sanskritists, artists and so on to research every aspect and produce multiple volumes of high quality books, documentaries etc. There is no death of talent within India to work on such mega projects, and the dividends would be huge. We owe it to our Rishis.

Much respect to Jijith Nadumuri Ravi for taking the Mahabharata Epic as the actual History, Geography, Politics and Dharma of Ancient India / Bharata. Congratulations! Because fractal reiteration is used by Sri Bhagavan for creating both spiritual and material worlds, the lotus structure of our Earth resembles the lotus structure of the heavenly island Jambudvipa, and the heavenly plane of Bhu-mandala. Because of this, every attempt to disregard the details of Mahabharata and all Puranas regarding the exotic-heavenly regions (varshas) and their inhabitants (Gandharvas, Rakshasas, Siddhas, Nagas & Devatas) and to label them as ordinary parts of Earth is most certainly a short-coming in this presentation. According to all Puranas, the entire Earth is Karma-Bhumi, and is called Bharata-varsa after the capital territory of Bharata-varsa, often called 'Greater India' or 'Bharata-Khanda' or 'Punya-Bhumi'. The entire Earth, named after its famous Bharata-varsa, is the only realm that undergoes the Cycle of Yugas, the Generation of Karma, and the Gateway to Liberation. The rest of Jambudvipa and Meru are not at all restricted in this way like the Earth of our experience. Please visit my webpage on Puranic Geography for more information .... soolaba.wordpress.com/puranic-geography/

Great work. We have to build on this in the future. I think an organization should be formed to bring together skeptics, critics and supporters of with a single person or a decision making body that based on arguments provided declares what is most appropriate. Somewhat like a court hearing. Nowadays history is only based on books of those who are popular and more invested in spreading their separatism and false history. There should be an organization that forms a platform for discussion. Much like the UN.

In those days most of the time, the elder daughter of the kingdom use to call with the kingdom name. Example: Kousalya is daughter of kosala rajya, kaikeyi of kekaya rajya, Vydehi of videha rajya, Panchali of panchala rajya, Kunthi of Kuntala rajya, Madri from Madra rajya, Gandhari of Gandhara rajya ans so on. In fact, according to maha bharat, dhrutarashtra marry gandhari with her 10 sister.
