they're all gone man, and it sucks. But if you get a masterbuilt guitar from the custom shop, you can get a full rosewood design, so if you go to the last page or so of the custom shop design guide, you can select rosewood neck and body. just select your desired specifications and put the rosewood neck and body on the last page.

From what I have read/found out, rosewood just wasn't too popular. Also, the one made for George Harrison was customized before it was given to him (I don't remember the details of it, good like finding it because there's probably going to be a bunch of this new stuff to sift through). I've seen other companies making regular teles with rosewood for less (some just have a rosewood top so that the guitar is still lightweight -- I don't really care about weight though). Maybe Fender will do the same in order to be more competitive.
@davidevans3175
@davidevans3175 8 жыл бұрын
+Nermket I found it to be heavier than a Les Paul, and until I knew George played one I didn't really care for it. Its too heavy to play standing up for any length of time.
@lapelcelery42
@lapelcelery42 8 жыл бұрын
+Nermket George's wasn't customised, It was custom made for him by Fender and flown straight to him personally. The first of production. It did get customised by Delaney Bramlett, who George later gave it to. You can see in this video where the wood has been replaced on the original where the body was routed and pickups changed by Delaney to humbuckers. He also changed the tuners and had the finish (originally satin) redone in a gloss. When Dhani Harrison recovered it comparatively recently for George's estate, he had it restored the best it could be, but Delaney really did a number on it.
@nermket4849

@CaptTerrific
@CaptTerrific 8 жыл бұрын
+Generic Name $4,500 overpriced is probably the highest you could argue - take a classic vibe squier, give it the better pickups, the better tuners, better truss, better electronics/switches, and the rosewood, you're probably looking at a respectable $1.5k.... IF if were mass produced. Honestly though, no one is going to buy this unless they're a massive Harrison fan. It's not about the guitar quality, it's about mimicking a piece of rock history

Higgins2001 Good point, I just hate the guitar industry it needs a shakedown at this point. That guitar probably cost like 300 dollars to make at the most. But yet they charge 6000 damn dollars for it.
@CaptTerrific
@CaptTerrific 8 жыл бұрын
Generic Name Can't really blame them - in fact I'd be scared if I were a guitar executive. Right now they need to capitalize on rich nostalgic folks who grew up in the height of the rock era, since the number of kids picking up guitar (while still huge), pales in comparison to the past. Me, if I had $6k spare, I'd spend it all on music :D

Tom King Ya. Sure, they LOOK pretty, but there was a reason they only made them for half a minute; they didn't have the iconic Tele sound you get with swamp ash (or pine, even), which are featherweight woods. I don't know if it's just the weight that accounts for the tone (doubt it; there's density, grain structure and tightness and maybe composition - which elements make up which woods, in which %s..). Who knows, but it wasn't just the weight that made those rosewood bodied Teles less than popular. The tone had alot to do with it. How many other style electric solidbody guitars you recall seeing with rosewood bodies? - Uh-huh. That's what I thought. When have you ever seen that wood used for anything but fingerboards and acoustic back and sides? Same thing with rock maple. One or two acoustic back and sides, or a top veneer on an archtop or Les Paul, and necks.
@pdiddley7597
@pdiddley7597 5 жыл бұрын
Jim McCracken - No. That would indeed have been an anchor. It was (as with many Gibson solid-bodies) mahogany. A Les Paul Jr. Special. (They're the ones that look like a 'Paul, but are flat topped, not figured/arched. Also just mahogany; no maple top.) The regular Jr has one pickup. Special has two. Usually P-90's (fat single coil), though some have humbuckers or minis

I was talking with Phil Kubicki (the Fender tech who made this tele for Harrison) before he passed a few years back (he was refretting my 68 black custom esquire). He said he also made a rosewood strat intended for Hendrix at the same time he made the tele. But, to his knowledge, Hendrix never used (or never received) it. Too bad. Just a little history from the maker's mouth.

3-4 You could afford it if you really wanted it, seriously. You just have to save. There's never been a guitar I couldn't eventually buy and I have a Gibson 61 SG Custom Shop VOS w maestro, Les Paul Custom Black Beauty, Paul Reed Smith McCarty Korina with Brazilian Rosewood Fretboard (only 400 made), Paul Reed Smith Custom 24, Paul Reed Smith 305 25th anniversary (only 300 made) (If you like a Strat the 305 is a Strat on steroids). A 1957 Fender Stratocaster Custom Shop Closet Classic 2 tone sunburst. These are just the really expensive guitars. I own a couple American Stratocasters and an AVRI Jazzmaster and a few other lesser guitars. My point is I had to save up for each of these or get financing where it was 0% interest for an entire year. It can be done...

Nowadays we're used to seeing the headstock decals have seamless and invisible edges that are spotless and perfect. Back then Fender's logo decals were waterslides but instead of fine sanding and clearcoats to make those edges disappear they left it and that's what they were trying to capture just like the original from that time as Greyson Myers had said in a comment already about how it's supposed to be a complete copy.

Hello,... Thanks for the Video. Liked and subscribed to the Channel. I am from Brazil. And I have 2 Fender Guitars: Jeff Beck Signature and a Floyd Rose. I really like George Harrison. Please, What is the Pickup of this Telecaster?... What are the Pickup Models used in this Telecaster?... Can you tell me? Hug, Stefano

The algorithm sends me here 8 years after I got my George Harrison Tele. I'm willing it to my nephew who plays and appreciates it but it will never be sold (by me at least). Heaviest guitar I've ever encountered, but who cares?!

Most iconic? I don't even think George would agree with that. Huge Beatles fan but this guitar had one gig and some recording? Paul's Esquire, Andy Summer's Tele, James Burton's Paisley, Joe Stummer and good grief the MAN Don Rich. Many many more I looked over but I believe to be more truly iconic than George's tele. Now his Gretsch...

It's the "George tele" only in hindsight. My memory is that were a few of these made, I thought Steve Cropper got one too, the all-rosewood concept might have been Steve's idea.

Boy, so many questions about this guitar... 1. In pictures and film of George playing the guitar, the fretboard is very dark (and the neck was documented to be a 2-piece). But in this video, the fretboard is much lighter, looking just like all the 69-72 telecasters with the one-piece neck. I wonder if the neck was replaced at some point. 2. Did someone install a humbucker in the bridge and then restore it back to original? I heard Delaney did that but can't confirm it. 3. Why are the capacitors not the "red dime" versions (which were the norm in the latest '60s)? These look like recent replacements. Not trying to drum up any conspiracies, I'm sure there are great answers to the questions; I'd just like to know.

George Harrison Said The Fender Rosewood Telecaster was ” The worst guitar I have ever played”. He used it for 2 weeks in Beatles. The least used Beatle guitar of them all. Only known for the Rooftop concert. George gave immidiatrly away his hate guitar No 1 to Delany Bramlet the same year as he got it. It was not used on Abbey Road. On Abbey Road George used Fender Stratocaster Rocky, Gibdon Les Paul Lucy and an Epiphone Casino. Its a shame Fender does this to a dead man.Sell the guitar he hated the most in his name. But its only because Olivia bought the guitar George gave away in mid 1969 to Delany Bramlet from Delany Bramlet 2 years after Georges death. George wanted absolutely nothing to do with ” The worst guitar I have ever played” but Olivia took the opportunity to make even more money and let Fender produce it. George Harrison promised his older sister that she would get a pension of 2000 USD for the rest of her life from George. The month after Georges death Olivia stops paying the pension to Georges older sister. Shows that she and George was as opposite as possible. Or maybe she became this witch after Georges death. She was probably very careful When George was alive. But once his gone she turns into completely New person.

Love Harrison and the Beatles, but... More iconic than Bruce Springsteen's Tele on the Born To Run album? My answer is no, and it's not that I "Love" Springsteen more than Harrison or the Beatles (hint: I certainly don't)...

Ok hard to believe a small company in Davao Philippines uses more rosewood than Fender, they have some of the most exotic wood available, I saw a Tree imported from Africa it was 30ft long 6 ft in dia it had been sawed in 8in strips, banded back together and shipped to Davao Philippines to be used for table tops

Water decal Fender logo not water paper-sanded and applied layers of fishing varnish (nitrocellulose, polyurethane, lacquer, or whatever they are applying on this one), repeat sanding until decal glue is invisible and final coat of varnish so the logo is underneath a nice finish coat? I guess that decal application was just for the video and not the real process it’s subject to. Or is it?
