This is one of the best World war II channels on youtube. My only complaint is I have to binge watch these long episodes. So for my day off I will watch 3 hours of excellent coverage. This is simply the best.

"You beat a dead horse." There's something you must know : you can work a horse to death.... unlike the oxen. Oxen when tired they will just stop working and sit where they are, no way to make them restart working even beaten severly. A horse ? Pushed and pushed again will drop dead under you. If you beat a horse, he will go and go on until have a heart attack, etc. Buy the way, german horses were not adapted to the Pontic Steppe. Germans tryed to replace their horses with the small sturdy steppe poney far much more endurent.

I am currently watching " the Hitler chronicles" on firestick, Tubi I think. Anyhow they prepared for blitzkrieg on bikes while the curious world watched on to make sure they didn't violate the treaty of V. They practices on pedal bikes, pretty nice ones to. Never before did a documentary go so deep into Hitler, all we see for our whole lives is the horrible part. This doc starts at his birth, his schooling, his schoolmates left comments etc. It's a good one. Deep. The Hitler chronicles

Yes. This is important. People who dumb history down into ideas like Hitler was evil and the German Army was evil, those people are apparatuses and the reason why it will happen again. They do not understand it and they dumb it down in the comic book un reality

Recollection/soldiers personal writing @ 39:00min's concerning the close relationships humans share with animals is both quite wrenching & on point. Working within any Military Cavalry discipline during wartime conditions would be an emotionally tough ride due to such close & caring two way > bonds having been forged... An additional, Secondary stress mechanism, in addition to all the other present, or looming traumas strains & factors. When a tank/machine gives up tha ghost n' lets tha smoke outtve 'er, it certainly does suck if one is relying on such a machine, but you can simply walk away from 'er no matter how much attention was previously shown to it, w/o a care....Or git BUSY fixing it....

There's a picture of many high ranking German officers standing out in the snow looking at something, and some are smiling. The companion picture shows what they are looking at. It is Herman Fegalien on a huge, magnificent grey horse. Tolkien based his Riders of Rohan on the Germanic horsemen that came out of the East. We don't think of them as horse warriors, but they were.

An excellent video! I'd love so see one that traced the history of the latter war with 4th and 5th Calvary Brigades. Infomation on these are pretty scarce. I've only found a couple of books on that subect, through all my digging over the yeats, and would like to know more. For instance how Calvary Group Hartenek nearly killed Hitler in March of '43, but von Kluge (Cleaver hands), chickened out. Would make for interesting viewing. It already makes fo interestoing reading..Also a special episode on the 18th Panzergrenadier division. The unit that was probably destroyed the most of Das Heer, and the entire Wehrmacht in the entire wat, inclusing rhe Battle for Berlin.

Hello Barbarossa the biggest logistical disaster in history of war fair .German high command had the best tactical and strategic in military but worst logistical planing and that’s what lost them the war and it was obvious 4 months in to the advance by October 41 the war was lost people think it was lost after Stalingrad but when you lose 20% or more of your troops and equipment in the first winter it’s already over as we all know they never came back to the point where there were by beginning of winter 41 and simply you lost the war right there Cheers

Stop calling it "Blitzkrieg" like some British Boomer. It's manouver warfare (Bevegungs Krieg). The German military literature and officers of the time call it that.
@historyatwar5 ай бұрын
If you didn’t realise I am British, and we are an English Channel so we will continue to call it Blitzkrieg, most of our audience will know what Blitzkrieg is. 🤝

@@historyatwar spreading misinfo then. Using propaganda terms over the actual ones. No German of that time would have called it that.
@historyatwar5 ай бұрын
Blitzkrieg is just a word to describe the rapid armed tactic, there’s lots of words the Germans didn’t use but many Historians use, the Term “Nazi” is a prime example of that, again using the word Blitzkrieg since it’s what it’s known for in the wider basis.
@noko42475 ай бұрын
@@pyry1948 they're trying to run a channel and people will sooner watch a video with the word "blitzkrieg" in it. calling it "blitzkrieg" is not misinformation. its what its known as by everyone in the anglosphere.

Vott ! Ze Germans had horses ? Is this history revisionism in the making ? Where were these brave, dedicated, heroic Germans on horses hiding for the past 80 years ? Must be just more German Propaganda Department films for the gullible cinema audiences of the '30s. Similar to the German Propaganda film clips about the romantic and tragic Polish Cavalry jousting with lances and sabers The Mighty German Iron Cross Tanks with machine guns blazing ! Ja ja ! lol. Well, - 2024 - what took you so long ? now that you're doing the German horse bit thing you can also do the German SS Bicycle thing. And while you're at it you can do the German Pervitin chocolate bits thing. Bits of cheap courage for the perfect zombies. lol
