Have you heard of the "Black Cross Red Star" book series about the huge air war on the Eastern Front during World War II?

Amazing how reality is always second to the current political narrative. Before the current Russo-Ukraine War many prominent Western authors were singing the praises of the tactical expertise of the Soviet Army and denying that they ever used what amounted to mass uncoordinated WWI human wave tactics...all of course without really explaining how they lost so many troops. Then shortly after the Russo-Ukraine War the Western media was literally laughing at and making fun of the current Russian Army claiming they were using WWI human wave tactics and claiming they were going to lose within days. Here we are over 2 years later...hmmmm, how's that narrative working out now? If you read ANY Eastern Front book written before 1980, especially personal accounts, they all state how Soviet troops were herded into the battle line like cattle with devastating results. Guards Units being the exception. I guess all those actual Eastern Front veterans were lying. The problem is that Numbers do not lie.

4:40 or so "there origin was baseless and useless" well if they are not of the same origin then their level of commitment would be compromised. That's like having someone who wasn't born in the country in parliament. They were the proud saviours of Europe just that many ppl just haven't worked that out yet. Loved this presentation. Well spoken narrator. I found myself totally immersed. Well done.

The aircraft at 41:02 looks like a captured P-47 Thunderbolt rather than a German type. Doubt it would have been used in Kursk? The gun camera shots look like encounters between western allies and the Luftwaffe.

Melodramatically verbose with richly layered cliche's. All the strings are nice, but it needs more cowbell.

Not true. De MG-42 was developed to enable cheaper and better mass-production, not because a higher rate of fire was necessary. The MG-34 was expensive to produce in comparison, and fewer could be made. Using stamped metal on the MG-42 enabled higher volumes for less money.

Sorry, I had to stop this film, as there were so many many scenes from air-combat with british and tons of american planes (guncamera for example) and also a german ace (Moelders) is in one scene, who was already dead for almost 2 years when this battle took place plus a scene from the german africa-corps, ouch. I understand that not all material can be from that one incident, but too much is simply too much.
