The German MEGA-TRUCK: MAN GL 8x8 KAT1

This video shows an all-original 1977 MAN MIL GL 8x8 KAT1 10t with winch, flat bed and loading crane zooming over gravel roads in wet conditions. Hardly any other military vehicle shapes the image of the armed forces in Germany more than the MAN GL, which is correctly designated as a MIL GL Kat I truck. The abbreviation "Kat" stands for "category". Almost every unit has at least one version of the all-terrain load carrier with the distinctive engine noise of an eight-cylinder turbocharged engine. The "5 t" with two axles is complemented by the three-axle version with a payload of 7 t and the imposing four-axle vehicle for 10 t with double steering at the front. Unlike other trucks, the engine is located behind the cab. It goes without saying, that these mega-trucks are also true off-road titans, being capable of conquering pretty much every terrain.
