There's something really special about this show. It gives me a huge feeling of nostalgia, and I was born in 1994 in Finland so I have no real connection to the roots of hip hop. It's so sad that this was cancelled
@nanagyambibi74264 жыл бұрын
Always said that if you listened to the right rappers you can get a great history lesson of what was happening during that time. This show was an education of not only music but also history. Very layered show. My favorite underlying theme about the show is how disco was slowly becoming a thing of the past and these kids were apart of a genre that became voice for the youth that still is til this day.

It just hit me that the verse that Grandmaster Caz spit was stolen by Big Bank Hank from the Sugar Hill Gang on the 2nd verse of "Rappers Delight". Ironically this episode ended with them saying that 9 months later, Rappers Delight was released.

that flex tho. "whatever you do in your lifetime don't ever let an emcee steal your rhyme" for those who don't know, the song 'rapper's delight' pretty much is an artificial amalgamation of stolen rhymes from the top MCs at the time, and it was recorded with a band.

The way I've seen this story is that Caz gave some lyrics to Hank, and instead of adding his own flavor, he just recited the lyrics verbatim, without even changing the Caz callout.

Tony Also a backspin is when you spin the record back with one motion fast , you hear the rewind of it when they do it. It has nothing to do with break dancing.
