Most heartbreaking thing about this story is the Crispin Jacob went M.I.A. on June 30th 1942 and was never recovered. :( You'll never be forgotten Jock.

My grandfather was an officer in the US Army, and survived the Bataan Death March. He is credited with saving his men by marching them to the front of the line every night when the line had stopped so they wouldn't fall out. He was in a Manchurian POW Camp for 3 1/2 years.

As Americans were so used to being seen as a juggernaut but I love seeing stories from this time because, while America was respected to a degree already, it wasnt to the degree we r today. And rightly so. The world knew of our economic problems and knew that as a military our numbers were way down and were in a bit of a transition state as we moved past trench war fair. We started growing our numbers and dedicating thousands of people with the soul task of coming up with new concepts for war, creating specialist groups for every idea we could find, but brainstorming and training don't mean shit without being battle tested. Story's like this are some of my favorites because when the rest of the world asked "who are these Americans? What kind of soldiers will they produce?" This was our answer. From the ghost of battan, to the Japanese claiming Marines were mental asylum escapes after what they did at wake Island. From McNasty jumping into whatever country he felt like and taking out or taking over every place he stepped foot in, to "The Marine" not being willing to retreat after just holding off the Nazis from getting to Paris and instead rallying his group of Marines to charge starting a chain reaction that ended with one telegram being sent that simply said the woods were claimed entirely by Marines. this is the time and these are the stories of the men who would put the world on notice of exactly who we are and what kind of soldiers we produce, setting the tone for how we would face every adversary and the bar that all Americans understood was expected of u if you went to war.

I feel like if anything America was respected a lot more back then when we were fighting to actually help people rather than just being seen as this world police who gets involved in everyone else's affairs regardless of it it concerns us often making things worse by doing so and are kinda seen as a joke to a lot of other countries because we'll spend so much on wars and military but can't take care of our own people
@ArtimousAche

@@noodlelynoodle. I mean that's a bit of a wishy-washy situation all the way around, first of all you have to look at the fact that corruption is that like an all-time high and the people calling the shots and directing where we're going are also the people that are owning the companies that are then being sent in to fix everything build everything and supply everything a lot of what we're doing doesn't make any sense but then on the other side of that there's still some people in there who are trying to make the best of what they can so they are directing us to go and do legitimate things like we were only supposed to be going after bin laden in the Taliban because of what they did to us we should have never been in Iraq but while we were there at least the people that were in charge were able to direct attacks in a way that actually did some good freed the people and got them in charge of their country and got rid of a dictator who has gassing and murdering thousands of people committing genocide on a regular basis. After that with Afghanistan we were only supposed to goin final Osama bin laden instead we decided to double down and get extra involved in the entire area and reality because we wanted to get control of oil fields but people that were on the ground again decided to take that position and say well while we're here we're going to actually do some good and start standing up actual militaries the fact of the matter is if the withdrawal would have been handled properly and the exchange of power wouldn't have been given directly to Taliban buy our current government that could have been a successful as Iraq was initially before isis started to rise there's too many problems over there for us to fix and it's not our place to fix them but the point I'm trying to make is that even though there's corruption all through our government and at an all-time high right now there are people in the military that are in high enough physicians to be able to capitalize on the misfortune of the corruption directing Us in the wrong direction and using whatever direction they do Anderson to still be able to do some good.also when looking at anything where they're trying to say that other countries are laughing at us that's a bit of a joke most of that is just propaganda either from the opposing party in our country trying to downplay or cast a negative light on those that are in power or propaganda from the people that are against us in the world in General trying to make it seem as if that's the case but at the end of the day our economy still supports the entire world economy the entire world economy is still based off of the US dollar all except for a handful of communist countries all of which have the worst standards of living and the vast majority of which are crumbling in all areas and , aside from the obvious situation of having vicious dictators that don't care about their people and that brutalize their own citizens, the other main reason that all those things are crumbling is because the communist countries one by one have begun trying to withdraw from using the US dollar as their base on their economic standard and switched over to Chinese yen and just look at what it's done to them look at what it's done to Russia's economy look what it's done to Korea's economy it's just awful so at the end of the day I'm from an economic standpoint the entire world economic system is either based off of our dollar or is crumbling because they stopped basing it off of our dollar, from military standpoint we are undeniably an inequality the top dog there is nobody even close if you look at the strength of our Navy compared to any other group you could take the top two people closest to us and combine their military from a naval perspective from an Air Force perspective and absolutely absolutely from a spec-ops perspective and there is absolutely no comparison even with the two other tops combined we definitely have our issues but the fact of the matter is we're still in the greatest position out of any other country the only thing we need to do is clear out all of this mess on both sides of the aisle who are consistently doing nothing but working for their own gain and destroying our country for their own benefit if we can clean out the corruption maybe you can still some kind of a system that forces anybody that does take the position of president or any kind of congress position to not be allowed to do any kind of trading nobody that they are connected with can do any kind of trading they can't be involved or owning any kind of a business and set some kind of restrictions on what they're going to do in the future after they are out of office to ensure that they aren't going to just set everything up so when they leave office they go into a company that they built using their position, then on top of that make sure that there are restrictions on all offices not just the president on how many years you can serve, there is absolutely no reason that we can't turn it around and not only gain control over the areas that we've been failing at but skyrocket ourselves to a position even higher than we've already gotten above all the rest

Here, a bit of history for this story is that Mcarthurs' defense strategy was severely flawed and didn't listen to his fellow officers, which hastned the fall of the Philippines. Kings and Generals does a really good segment about this.

When it comes to historical content concerning the American badasses just spreading the accomplishments of those involved in historical context I'm willing to overlook the slights you perceived. Spreading the works of those that deserve the recognition is good enough. Shut your mouth and learn about the history of the world's greatest unhealthcare provider.

Nic doesn't care about copyright claiming stuff he encourages people to react to his content because it spreads it to more people, he's already successful on his own and more people than would otherwise see his video see it from people reacting to it and the history and teaching it is what he cares about not someone making a few dollars off adding their reaction to his video. Like him and the the whole unsubscribe group are all about pulling others up with them as they grow if other people can benefit from their success they love it. Hell nic even invited some of the people he saw reacting to his stuff first onto the podcast. Like he does what he does for the love of history not because of the money which is why he started on tiktok and is going to school to be a history teacher, like neither of those pay well whatsoever but tik Tok especially spreads stuff to millions of people who wouldn't ever learn about it otherwise
