The Ghost of Castell Coch - Ifor Bach WALES

Castell Coch in Wales was originally built in the 11th Century. Some historians debate on whether there was an earlier fort built by Ifor Bach the Lord of Senghenydd. It is said his ghost haunts this castle.
The castle you see today was rebuilt in the gothic style by John Crichton-Stuart, 3rd Marquess of Bute. Castell Coch means "Red Castle" in Welsh- for the color of the sandstone that the castle is made from.

Evelyn Edwards is a successful American actress and photographer. She has appeared on such shows as National Geographic’s Hydrogen vs. Hindenburg, Bosch, Criminal Minds, Castle, The Mentalist, Parenthood, The Thundermans, The Kicks, Marry Me, Outsourced, the Academy Award winning film Her, and the Ridley Scott Associates film Loom.
Evelyn began her career in opera. She has performed with some of the opera industry’s leading conductors and singers including: Placido Domingo, Valery Gergiev, Kent Nagano, Eva Marton, Vladimir Chernov, Goesta Winburg, and others.
She has had the privilege of working with such famed directors as Oscar winner Maximilian Schell, Julie Taymor, Gian-Carlo Del Monaco, and Lotfi Mansuri during her tenure with Los Angeles Opera. Ms. Edwards made her professional singing debut at the age of 13, operatic debut at 19, and national television commercial debut at six months.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree and Master of Music degree from UCLA and a Professional Studies Diploma from Mannes College of Music. She and her husband Chris love exploring the world and sharing their passion and love for castles and photography together.

The castle also has a Blue Lady ghost! Have you read about Ifor Bach and his raid on Cardiff Castle? Legend has it that he kidnapped the Earl of Gloucester in 1158 at night, and he and his men scaled the castle’s high walls. His men also took the earl’s wife and son hostage. The earl had recently stolen land belonging to Ifor Bach. He and his family were eventually released after returning the land to Ifor Bach along with extra territory as compensation.@@EvelynEdwards

Absolutely breathtaking! What a wonder! This is so unlike the modern concept of what would be the traditional interior of castles: just drab, dank stone walls with a tapestry every once in a while down dark and drafty halls and rooms. You said at the beginning that this castle was made into a fairytale castle. Did it not look like this bsck in the day? How common was it for castles to be colorful and elaborately decorated like this?
