I don't know how I missed this two years ago. Brilliant. A life long theatre geek, I think this may be one of my favorite Clan Broonford tales. I am glad it wasn't any later at night to be watching this tale! 😵💫💙🏴😵💫💙

Have not had the opportunity to see the inside of that theater on my visits. It's so much bigger than appears from the outside. Wonderful old theater. BOO!

Wow just discovered this post. I just wrote a comment on you other post titled; ‘Exclusive look inside the Edinburgh Playhouse part 1’ I had first hand experience of the ghost. It was mainly active in the corridors leading to “The Gods” that was the area where most people experienced this anomaly.

I hoped you'd do something spooky for Halloween 🎃🎃. On a sad note I've just heard on the radio that Sean Connery has passed away. A great actor and Scotsman .
@MAINER47794 жыл бұрын
Oh, no! Sean Connery was such a legend. The world's lost a great talent. And so handsome young & old. Seemed he just got better looking as he aged. [Until the past few years when he visibly went downhill & was quite infirm.] Although I really liked Pierce Brosnan & Daniel Craig s Bond, Sean Connery will always be the epitome James Bond to me. 😢😢😢

Happy Halloween, Tony. I remember well, being in the Playhouse with my mum when it was still a cinema. Scary.....but not because of Albert...being up there in the balcony was enough to give you a nosebleed. But it certainly looks much posher now and hopefully it won’t be too long before it’s back in business again.

My college theatre ghost liked to hang out in the horseshoe theatre. He liked to sit in the front row during rehearsals and late at night he’d move to the costume shop and make noise in the racks of clothes.

I worked in the Edinburgh playhouse 3 times. The first time. I got lots of my Family jobs there. I served meals. I gave UB40 band guy his dinner which was meat and he shouted at me saying he was a vegetarian. I was 13. I started crying saying I did not know. Later that day and ask UB40. They where rehearsing and the fire curtain on stage went on fire. We where all evacuated. It was supposed to stop fires. It was from part of the equipment. Then my Aunt saw a guy with ginger hair in a window. The doors unlocked themselves I read in the book I read everyday I went in, first of all to see what the Security guard had come across. Scary. Anyway last time I left was someone whistled right into my ear really loud. I turned to look and noone was there so I ran down to see who was working. It was just 3 of us. Not in kitchen where I was. So I left my job for the last time. My Family had also left by this time. Due to it being haunted. It was a fab job that I would still have but far too much activity every day and night. Recorded in a book at front desk. I swear on my life.

I met a maid in the kitchen area of Loch Leven Castle. She grabbed my arm with both hands and looked in my face. When I realized I was looking at someone she disappeared. She felt extremely sad. 😪

Nothing to do with any ghosts, but in the summer of 1975, the rock band I was in spent some weeks rehearsing in the Playhouse. At the time it was shut down and all the dressing rooms down in the back of the building, which is where we rehearsed, were being stripped out, right back to the brick walls. One day we set up on the stage. On that occasion the owner popped in and we had a chat. He was upset that City Council had denied his application to demolish the Playhouse and replace it with a hi-rise block of offices. We suggested he bring in bands, giving him the names of managers for the band Yes, and for Tom Jones and Englebert Humperdinck. Thankfully he took note, and soon after everyone who was anyone was playing that venue. (I saw Genesis, Nils Lofgrin (now w/Springsteen) with Tom Petty as opener, and Jackson Browne.) By the late 70s there was also a small club upstairs where the likes of a very young Simple Minds played. It is hard to imagine Edinburgh without the Playhouse. But had the owner had his way, that would be the case.

I saw many great bands at the Playhouse during the '70s. The building always had a great atmosphere but unfortunately I never bumped into Albert!

With DNA testing being available to everyone these days, a lot of folks are finding their ancestry is not quite what they thought! I was adopted, but my family had me as a foster child before adopting me, so knew my birth name. I was always told I was Dutch. After finding my birth family in 2017, I did a DNA test & discovered I was in fact 73% British, 9% Scottish, 5% Irish, etc. Turned out I wasn't even related to my "birth father"! Discovering your roots can be quite a life changing adventure!
