Great to hear the story of history of Henry the 1st and the Hungarians and the castles. And the Giant!

Another great review and of course another great history lesson. We tend to think of people in the past as being primitive or simple, but your lessons teach us that they faced the same challenges that we do and had to rely on their abilities to win the day. Perhaps they should have enlisted the giant to fight on their behalf

The lockdowns, drought and fire dangers here in California took me "off my game" for a while. I sensed something was missing from my KZbin watch list and I realized it was The Bremen Pipe Smoker videos. This is the first I've watched in a long while. It was like a visit with an old friend. Having an interest in history and pipe smoking, it is always rewarding to sit back, light up the pipe and watch you speak about tobacco and history. Thank You for all the work you do to bring us these episodes. Wishing you a Happy Holiday Season. Thanks Mark. Carry on.

Cor! Bloody hell! Look at all them tins of Germain's. That is a Viking hoard right there. I, with startling surprise, came upon 100g of loose Rich Dark Flake a few months ago. I had the feeling of striking gold. It's now in the jar and waiting patiently for me to smoke it.

I think you hit on a good point here, Mark. Scarcity is not always an indicator of quality. What is scarce may be of good quality but what isn't scarce may also be of very good quality. If anything, it is often an indication of hysteria or mania.

Great historical perspectives as usual Mark. You have got my mouth watering for that Germains Rich Dark Flake. Looks quite cold there, you have got the cold, we in the northwest U.S. have got the rain. Several severe rain storms marched through here last week. Just to the north of us in Vancouver, Canada the flooding was so severe it flooded out parts of the trans Canada highway and destroyed several sections of the main rail lines which Vancouver relies on for many of there life sustaining items like grains and other grocery supplies which come from the east. Plus the other supply route via the Pacific ocean has been clogged as the major port of entry in western Canada is the port of Vancouver and there are dozens of container ships which are struggling to dock amidst the current supply line crisis all up and down the west coast. What a mess. Keep puffin.

Seeing all the comments about RDF and then seeing the availability of it gives me a mixed feeling about even trying to pursue that product and others like it...see "esoterica" etc. I guess if it comes available to me I shall just have to enjoy it while I can, but don't count on finding any more on a regular basis. Enjoying your videos sir. I look forward to the next.

Thank you Mark! I always enjoy the historical background information. I find it very interesting that the King chose to bring on a confrontation. He must have realized that the time was right; that there was a very good chance of soundly defeating the invaders. The forts were concentrated centers of power and might. I also had the very good fortune of receiving a tin of Germain's RDF from Smokey Dan. I shall savor it for as long as it lasts. Take Care, Gary

Germain’s RDF is great as is your historical story telling…your students are so luck to have such an interesting and informative teacher. Many many years ago I wrote a dissertation at Uni about the establishment of the Duchy of Normandy after the French grew tired of Rollo (predecessor of William the Conqueror) & his annual Viking raids …I loved this period. I think a similar treaty is needed these days with the Chinese to stop them pillaging our Germains whenever it is made available 🤣

All the online UK outlets I looked at seem to be out of stock, so the assertion there is plenty of RDF available appears to be incorrect. Always good to see you Mark. Thanks for posting.

Hello Mark, just catching up on some of your videos! More interesting history, which is always a mirrored reflection of who we are today. As 'moderns" we often imagine how advanced we are...not much has changed, human nature is more or less the same. As for Germain's RDF...what can one say? It's a classic, well loved and respected pipe tobacco...that is impossible to get! Take care my good friend! Corey

Fascinating tales of olde, be that of legend, myth or a combination of, most have to a certain degree a level of uncertainty and probability. A "giant" of a man is always relative to the size of the average population of the era, I am a giant to a pigmy, yet equally I'm a dwarf in comparison to the tallest NBA basketball player who stands at 7 feet 6 inches tall. Either way, it seems that some poor giant of a bloke in your story is likely to have met his maker, through gluttony, did it actually happen... Most probably. Great video, RDF is great, if you like it 😃. I certainly do. Be be well and take care ✌️
