THE GIBB RIVER ROAD - PLUS TIPS (PART 3) | EL QUESTRO | HOME VALLEY | ELLENBRAE STATION | EMMA GORGE | AMALIA GORGE | BRANCO'S LOOKOUT | TRAVEL TIPS! | EP 18
On The Waugh Path lap of Australia - KZbin family caravanning Australia - The Gibb River Rd!
Welcome back to join us on our lap of Australia! We're On The Waugh Path and we've been travelling around Australia in our caravan for almost 2 years.
We finally get to do the iconic Gibb River Rd. What could go wrong?! We’ve had a few mishaps on The Gibb in part 1 and part 2, but let’s see how we finish it off in part 3.
We live in our caravan full time and love sharing our lap of Australia via KZbin - bringing you all along on this bucket list travel adventure with us.
IN THIS EPISODE...rambling is back! We also see heaps of top spots on The Gibb River Road such as:
- Ellenbrae Station
- Amalia Gorge
- Home Valley Station
- The Pentecost River
- Emma Gorge
- El Questro Station - where we check out Branco’s Lookout, Zebedee Springs and El Questro Gorge - one of the toughest walks we’ve done!
We also share some tips for travelling over The Gibb, as well as our top spots and how we ended up going. El Questro Station was definitely a highlight, but there was so much more too.
Have you travelled The Gibb River Road? What did you think? Did you have anything go wrong? Did your car and/or caravan make it through The Gibb River Rd in one piece?
We hope these videos give you some inspiration to travel Australia, and some tips and information for planning to do the lap of Australia.
As always, any questions you have on travelling the Gibb, or travelling Australia in general, feel free to whack a comment below - or comment just to say hi! We love a chat :-)
Thanks for watching and for subscribing.
Cheers,
Danny, Eb, Em & Ace

Wow what a great episode that part of your trip looked to be one of your most challenging experiences,those walks through the gorges were certainly very testing but the rewards certainly looked to be worth it.l have enjoyed following your journey along the Gibb River Rd and all the tips that you have provided along with some amazingly beautiful photos of our wonderful country and wildlife. I know that you always come across some donkeys on the road during your travels but it is nice to come across some of the four legged variety. Thanks for sharing your journey stay safe and enjoy your Christmas on the road

😆🤣 You’re a classic Jim. Yes there are some donkeys but luckily not many. Most people we’ve met on the road are pretty cool and look out for each other too. This was certainly one of our most challenging hikes for sure. All the best over Xmas and New Years. Merry Christmas mate 🎄❤️🍻

@Foolishpaul that's awesome! Very exciting!! Yeah who knows with this last outbreak. It seems like they're just letting it run and whoever gets it gets it! Will be very interesting with caravan parks and borders. Anyway, enjoy the lead up, and you'll be on the road in no time!

Thanks for another great video, looks like you had a great time. The kids did so well on the hikes! I would love to see a video of your car and van set up, there are so many set ups with all the bells and whistles but it looks like you only have what you need, and based on how long you have been travelling for I would love to know what you have done to help me decide what my family need. Keep up the great videos! Kate.

Hi Kate. You’re right there are heaps of different set ups. You don’t need all the bells and whistles. We did a video on our FB page of what we’d suggest getting in a van. If you go to our page and look at the vids it should come up pretty quick.

Well done on all of your videos just like to know how did the caravan hold up on the gibb as we also have a Jayco van and we did the old savannah way had microwave fall out which was the worst damage but van held up pretty good for a Jayco safe travels

Hi Glenn. Thanks for the feedback and for watching :-). The Jayco held up fine. No major problems which was good. Microwave and fridge stayed in place and no major safety concerns which is what you worry about most.

Thank you Christine. Yeah I think this last section of the Gibb was most challenging but partly because we were cooked from the rest of it, and partly because of that massive hike at El Questro. Merry Christmas to you too and hope you have a wonderful time over this holiday period. 🎄😊🎉❤️

The jeep would of gone through that water crossing… did it ourselves with no snorkel, great experience to do the Gibb… We had no troubles either with our Pajero & Van…. Not even a flat…. But we did the preps, kept the speed down, tyre pressures down etc….. we also went up to honey moon bay.

Hi Ray. Yeah the Jeep probably could have but we’ve got a lot more travelling to do and we don’t risk it unless we have to. The Jeep has been bloody great though. We’d love to get to honey moon bay. A long way to get up there but would be amazing 👌

Interested in how the Jeep went, I have one and I think its a great touring vehicle. What are your thoughts on your friends Concourer I am interested how that would be for two people.
@ebonywaugh7271
@ebonywaugh7271 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jason. The Jeep has done a top job. Didn’t miss a beat on the Gibb or anywhere else on our travels. Powerful, economical and comfortable. The conqueror is a great set up. Our friends have been really happy with it and they have 2 adults and 2 kids in it all around Australia. Only thing for us that it’s missing is that you need to set the toilet up at each spot but it doesn’t seem to bother them and it’s not that big a deal.

@onthewaughpath6552
@onthewaughpath6552 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Kath. It's a great tow vehicle and hasn't missed a beat. Comfortable, good fuel economy, powerful. Only thing we would like is a bit more clearance but in saying that it hasn't stopped us from doing most tracks. We don't take it on super crazy 4wd tracks, but did do the Gibb with it and other tough roads with no dramas.

How did the Jayco handle the roads, any damage ?
@onthewaughpath6552
@onthewaughpath6552 2 жыл бұрын
It did really well. No major damage, just small things. Our main concern is always whether there will be something go wrong from a safety perspective, or that would impact being able to drive. We've not had anything like that, just small things, so we've been happy.

How could You run out of beer. It's deplorable. You should've watched Russell Coight. I quote the great man "general rule of how much alcohol you need in the outback, is 3 litres per day, pee person, per degree over 25 degrees, per kilometre if on foot, in the winter months divide by 2, plus.....another litre" unquote. 😂🤣😂🤣
