Game Boy film stock unlocked. Been waiting for someone to finally insert Go film into a Game Boy and see what happens (it'll blow your mind).

This looks fun! It reminds me of the Polaroid Swinger I had back in the late ‘60s. $99 seemed kinda high at first glance, but the Swinger was $20 ($185 today) and only had black and white film.

Thanks for sharing that pricing perspective! Interesting to compare with today’s cameras and prices.

I really wish Polaroid could improve their film. I used to shoot their impossible project film which was an accomplishment for them to pull off, but it wasn’t good film. Then when they were Polaroid originals they improved it but the film never seemed to be able to get enough light to be colourful. Their film today still isn’t great and jamming is still a thing in their cameras no matter how many times you clean the rollers. I was really tempted by their new tiny camera but I just can’t get behind their film at all anymore. I feel more people would be better off just buying a portable printer like the Kodak 300 which prints photos with better colours but still can have the form factor and esthetic of the Polaroid film frame. Polaroid seems to be so close but just misses the mark. I know some people love the look of these and hey, to each their own, but it’s not my thing. I also hate the fact that the photos aren’t stable in the long term. I have photos from 5 years ago that have faded drastically over time. Hopefully one of these days they will be able to improve the film enough to be punchier, more colour stable and they will work out the intermittent jamming issues.

Matt this video brought back memories of going to the prom 1973 with my gf Rosanne's dad taking photos of us with his Polaroid camera. I never owned one myself. I shot film than digital currently a Fujifilm Xt4! I recently found this book at the library it's from 2012. Did not know Ansel Adams was an advisor along with Minor White and other pros! Thanks for this unexpected topic keep up the great work! INSTANT by Christopher Bonanos. A great read!

Like you've mentioned, the ability to control the flash at that price point is a big positive. I love my Mini 9, but that flash can be a massive pain in the butt in some circumstances (I also tape over it lol).

my instax 210 was stolen and it was my daily driver, I've been thinking about picking this one up to put in my backpack instead of getting another doinker. Way smaller for sure but that might be a good thing for my back.

Even though this mini polaroid is pretty cool I worry that polaroid go film won't be in production 5 years from now because they need solid sales to continue producing this stuff with dedicated machinery and it has a limited shelf life.

If Polaroid is reading this! FIX the cartridges! I ofthen find that the Last photo is already Exposed by the pressure of the other photos!
@mattdayphoto Жыл бұрын
Interesting. Already exposed by pressure, what do you mean? Do you mean the chemical pod and development has already started from the pod being pressed open? Or a light leak in the cartridge somewhere?
@Johnybulletproof Жыл бұрын
Exactly the chemicals already mixed. Resulting in a brown undeveloped photo

Yeah , i handeled the magazines with care and i had found that error . Only on the Go format . Perhaps too much tension in the magazine or defect while loading it.

If your son shoots with his own camera all the time, how many film cartridges do you then give him every day?
@mattdayphoto Жыл бұрын
He doesn’t have a limit, I just bought him several double packs for his birthday last month. Sometimes he shoots one pack over the course of a week, sometimes he shoots one pack in 10 minutes. 😅

The film says 2 packs, 16 exposures. Is it correct to say each pack is 8 shots then? Thanks for posting this vid and introducing me to this fun little camera!

Many people tell that Polaroid go is garbage like tell the same about model 3 not reflex sx 70;in both case this people tell bullshit;I use Polaroid go and never had problems;only same blue flame problems of normal size 600 film and normal color shift at extreme temperatures but camera is very good;Polaroid joycam or i zone was less well build quality many years ago;many mint company and lomo are more unreliable in exposure system;only defect is tiny format and more flares in full sun

I tried the Polaroid go generation 2. And while I got good images (minus spread issues) I just didn't like the size of the photos. I'm young too, it's not like I can't see well, but even I was squinting to see them. There is just no reason in my opinion to invest in that system for capturing memories long term. But I think it would be perfect as a gateway drug for kids to get into photography.

I really like the camera shape and usage, but mine just overexposes 99% of the photos, which is very annoying. I can see from your photos it doesn't happen the same to you, so i guess it was bad luck for me. Will try to send it back and order a new one.

Polaroid has so many issues with their cameras over exposure issues. And the unreliable film being crap shoot if you have a decent pack or not. Let alone for the price of one pack of Polaroid of 8 you get 20 instax photos. The best bet would be to have a beginner go with instax since the film is completely reliable, cheaper and there cameras are very consistent. It shows this video is just advertising since you removed this opinion the first time. Very disappointing you can’t express a different opinion politely. Your channel has changed dramatically from its early years.
@mattdayphoto Жыл бұрын
Removed what opinion? I haven't removed any comments if that's what you mean?
@MrJoeylikesmusic Жыл бұрын
He stated in the video instax vs Polaroid is preference.. shoot what you want and stop being a nerd. Those that are shooting Polaroid know what they’re getting for the most part and for sure it’s not without its flaws but to be fair Matt literally says instax is more consistent but if you haven’t realized the man loves Polaroid from watching his channel over the years then idk what to tell you

It's a fairly new camera, which means viewers are probably interested in whether they would want it and how much it costs, and how it compares to other cameras. There's plenty of videos on this channel about process and technique, either walk around videos, editing on computer, darkroom skills etc. That means plenty of FREE expertise and experience rather than buying a book or course, or spending TIME going to a library. A few sponsors here and there isn't a crime.
