The Gifts of Christmas: Gold, Jesus is the Great High King we Need - Matthew 2:1-11

For this Christmas season we explore the significance of the various gifts Matthew records the wisemen bringing to Jesus.
The first gift is gold, symbolizing the kingship of Jesus as God's royal Son, who through his death and resurrection is appointed king over heaven and earth. How will we respond to this heavenly king? Will we resist him, like Herod? Will we ignore him, like the religious leaders? Or will honor him, like the wisemen?
