Yep, and add irrigation pathways into the crops with a dam at inlet from larger reservoir. All your pathways then become 0.5m depth water storage instead of wasted space and allows you to plant further inland. If you're going really deep in you can do a double depth channel to store even more water behind the dam. You can do a floodgate if you want to store a full 1m of water but it's more to micromanage and general I find it not worth it.

Personally I'd keep going, there's loads of map you can expand out to, and you can add stuff like the golems (and with update 3 not too far away, that might be a good time to start again). One of the things I did that I definitely recommend for that map is building some mechanical pumps between the dam at the bottom of the river and the new Giga-reservoir, as that way you can move the captured water at Heavymetalton that isn't that useful, back upstream so it can top up farms etc. You could even use the golem's & terraforming to do that instead of making levees. And surely you should do something with the strongest shaped lake right? Maybe a new farming district? There's some joke to be made there around strongly shaped things bringing life surely?

Seeing the Bridgemas shirt, I am reminded that the papacy got its initial prominence during the reign of Constantine the Great, by whom, gave the jurisdiction of overseeing the maintenance and building of bridges to the city of Rome to the head bishop of Christianity and successor of Peter. The reasoning is because Constantine wanted to instantly give the bishop importance, in addition, the role of overseeing the bridges was originally a part religious and part secular role normally held by the emperor, a title known as pontifex maximus. The title means main bridge builder. In addition, Constantine succeeded in becoming emperor by defeating his rival after his rival fell into the river when the bridge he was on outside of Rome collapsed while going over it with his army. Constantine saw that as a sign of God. That success due to God was what initially gave him the idea of giving the title and position of pontifex over to the head bishop of Christianity.

Your distribution post gets delivered to from any beaver managing said resource all the way to the east side of your capital, only for your distribution beavers to take them west, then way down south. This, is a logistics nightmare. Make a closer distribution post. You'll be lucky if those four beavers even adequately supply the two districts in a resource crunch. Those trips to reservoirington will take most the day, meaning the beavers will finish second trip around midnight and delay eating/drinking and sleep in, meaning further failed delivery quotas. You might as well calling it damning-ton. Save your beavers the torture. Please xD
