Typically when you know the person and understand how they communicate when they’re happy, upset, or whatever the case. It’s a lil different when you don’t know the person. But punctuation is very important in written/typed communication. What are they being thought in school or are they getting this off the internet lol

Lmao this is so good. I’m in the last batch of humans considered a millennial born in 96, and I actually love punctuation! It doesn’t even have to be fully proper but I like to see enough of it to have clarity. I’m kind of a hybrid or a bridge between the generations so I understand the concepts of gen Z. Those babies are so complex 😂 you either have to keep up or feel left behind with them lol. I’m at the age where I’ll pick up very few of their things and leave the rest. But I will add my frustration and confusion about the elder millennials and younger gen X 😂 when they leave that daunting “…” at the end of a text! My mama be like “Okay…” girrrl why are you doing that? Lol what more do you want from me with those dots. I’ll never get used to it 😂

I understand the new generation having different texting rules, but how does Jo not understand how his parents communicate through text? The way I text my parents is different from how I text my husband or my friends. Texting is very informal for me, but it also depends on the situation & who I am texting that I will make it more formal.

I have known about this punctuation foolishness and I *REFUSE* to participate. I spell words out. I use commas - OXFORD commas. And I capitalize proper nouns. It’s bad enough that some people don’t mind being wrong. It’s worse that they cannot stand the be corrected when they’re wrong.
