I just found this young lady and as a musician I am so happy we still see this amazing talent come to notice. The Girl from Ipanema is a classic that you can hear around the world in any language. Elise stamps it with her own unique touch. the Punctured soda can and beans. Right down to the core of Brazilian music . It has been a long time since I was this impressed with a new musician, and this lady is right at the top.

Heard a peer of her that worked with her talk about Astrid style being unpretentious but she was always curious about the music. Amazingly also she wasn’t chosen to sing on the recording but as she happened to be translator in the studio that day they asked her to sing it and she launched her career and changed music worldwide from that lucky happenstance.

I fell in love with this girl the first time I'm heard her voice. Not to be cliche but she has the voice of an angel. Let me explain, I have always gotten bad cluster migraines, meds take to long to work and I was at my wit's end. The first time I heard her voice was during an episode and the pain instantly went away. I have a playlist of her music I listen to when the migraines start up. This girl is a miracle, and I just wish she knew.

Ely Rock - An aspect of the phenomenon of Astrud Gilberto - who sang the original Ipanema was that she was a pretty homely looking woman, but she had so much sincerity that she was extremely seductive just with her voice - and she famously never used vibrato or warbled to spice things up - she relied on pure sincerity to get he message across.

Scotland? LOL Read the name of the song. The original song is from Vinicius de Moraes and Tom Jobim. They had as inspiration Heloisa Pinheiro, a girl who lived in a street called Montenegro in Rio de Janeiro, just in front of her house there was a bar where both(Tom and Vinicius) used to hang out and she would stroll in front of it quite often. They renamed the street as "Vinicius de Moraes ". She became a celebrity because of this song.

I think this is an interesting video. It has an element of restraint, that is faithful to the character of the 1964 Getz/Gilberto video. Trouw's video is also well filmed, and has an artistic quality which reflects sort of an architectural, or compositional thought behind it. Also, Trouw is not only singing, but acting as well: that is one of the things that made Jim Morrison, of The Doors, so unique.
