I was so impressed by his thoughtful portrayal of the mood of Pyami in the various situations, (I’m speaking facial expressions, body language, based on the situation) that it made look for me look for more of his work. Then I watched Paper lives, and of course this serial. He seems to be prolific in his work for such a young person, and all of it are excellent.

To understand Feriha, he had to understand Feriha’s perspective on life. He could not do that because he knew nothing about Feriha’s life. He loved Feriha in spite of the fact that he didn’t understand Feriha. He tried to interpret what she did and how she understood life, from his own and from Hande’s perspective. In other words, he tried to understand Feriha through the eyes of a rich person. He loved her and accepted what he thought of as instability. No one could blame him. He didn’t know any better. Through their arguments and struggles, he learnt enough about Feriha to begin to understand that in spite of his deep love for her, how little he understood Feriha’s life perspective. But he tried. He made many mistakes. He made wrong assumptions about poor people, Feriha’s family and her society, he made wrong assumptions about Feriha’s sense of honesty dignity, morality, and care and concern for the good which her culture brings to the table, he made wrong assumptions about what Feriha expected from him as her husband, and he made wrong assumptions about what would make Feriha happy. It was only after Feriha’s death that Emir understood just how little he understood Feriha. While she was alive, his concern was to have her in his life, happiness was of secondary importance. She was his life. Without her, his life cannot be lived. He can breathe, yes, but alive he won’t be. So he used his days trying to understand her, and trying to understand himself. Asking Zulal why she lied about where she lived, accepting that working manual labour is also a dignified way of earning a living, finding that there is nothing wrong in cleaning tables in a restaurant, in waitressing, finding that living in a small house, in the cheap suburbs, with few furniture, and a good view is also doable, finding that the values that his poor father in law teaches him has greater value than the lessons that his rich mother is trying to enforce on him. Emir uses the lessons from Feriha’s life to polish his own personality. He honours Feriha by becoming someone that she would be happy with, just like Feriha tried to become someone that he would be happy with. In the end, Emir wanted HIS Feriha. The Feriha without the trappings of the rich. His old Feriha. He had his Feriha again for 10 days before fate separated them. Early in Emirs journey to polish himself, his father died, and Emir lost his way. He fell very far, and his journey to picking himself up again appears to be a long and difficult one. Will Feriha’s life continue to be his light through his darkness? That is the question left unanswered. I think it will. A love like that will be remembered through everything that life throws at him. The same way that it did for Zehra and Hassan. Emir might not say anything, but that doesn’t mean that he goes about his life without thinking of whether Feriha would be happy with his choices in his journey through life.

After seeing tons of Turkish serials in past 3 yrs.. I have learnt for a good script they all do this 1) Boy is rich, girl is from dire circumstances 2) Girl always lies and has tons of secrets.. (even tho they have tons of opportunities to say the truth) 3) There has to a be a lady interested in the male lead who will be the vamp and a guy interested in the female lead who will be the villain.. 4) Too many twists and turns after this with their relationship nonstop going up n down.. 5) Even after all this they get married 🙄

I wanted to cry for Emir, when Feriha said that she can’t marry him, and she didn’t tell him why. Painful. Feriha tried and failed to tell him because she didn’t trust him enough to love her for who she is, with her faults and all. I think Emir was solid, and would have perhaps been angry for a week, but he would still have loved her and married her.
