So I just wanna say that I've done this with a bic lighter and it will work. However you have to blow air (from your mouth not high compressed air.) into the top for about 10 - 30 seconds. This will get the flint to dry and allow you to strike a flame.

Just wrap the lighters in a dry area for a few seconds like wrapping it with your shirt for a second then hold it tightly and whip your arm up and down a few times to make the flint and steel dry. The butane is a highly flammable gas so no need to try to dry the nozzle.
