It's really so nice to see El experiencing normal life and being just a normal girl. Especially with her history.

It's nice to see Max and El having normal 80s mall fun. With their shared historical traumas, one from the lab, the other from her half brother, it is nice to see them have silly fun.

Eh Nancy is not my favorite character but once again, I feel compelled to defend her a little. She hasn't always been selfish as she willingly put herself in danger several times to get justice for Barb and she went along with the plan to alter the story so that Barb's parents could get some closure on their daughter's death. I also would say she's more ignorant in this situation and simply doesn't understand how badly Jonathan needs a job to help his family. I think it's easy for us to now in 2022 to look at this as her just being selfish as we have the benefit of understanding how kids in lower income families generally have to work at a young age to help ends meet but I doubt this would be well understood by a middle class kid in the 80s.
@Br0nto5aurus2 жыл бұрын
Also, Jonathan doesn't understand why she needed to take the risk to be taken seriously. He doesn't know what it's like to be a working woman, the disrespect, lower pay, and blatant misogyny. He needs the money, and she's been suffering from a hostile workplace and can't let it go on.
@dancemachine19192 жыл бұрын
@@Br0nto5aurus agreed to an extent. While infuriating and obnoxious, as far as we know, this is her first job so I personally wouldn't go so far as to label this as suffering. That being said, of course in her shoes, I'd also want to take a chance on a good lead and also prove those sexist jerks wrong. I 100% agree that Jonathan doesn't understand what it's like to be on the end of that sexist behavior. Neither of them understands the other person's dilemma.
@ariela_2 жыл бұрын
That was still selfish what she did for barb, cause she was only doing it out of guilt she felt like it was her fault bringing barb out.
@dancemachine19192 жыл бұрын
@@ariela_ I disagree. Continuing with the lie would've been selfish but instead she took action and put herself at risk to get proof.

If Nancy was selfish she would’ve looked the other way about barb’s death.

I think the thing about Mike and El is this, El isn't the best at expressing herself through words having to learn a lot of expressions like bitching, learning social ques, etc. El is Mike's 1st girlfriend and first kiss so making out is just as new to him physical intimacy is where they're both on the same level of experience

I love hearing your discussions and theories! I’m happy you’re digging Robin, she’s a favourite of mine, easy top five. (The list finishing with Steve, Dustin, Max, and an s4 character)
@wtimmins2 жыл бұрын
I don't know if it was mentioned last episode, but the actress playing Robin is Maya Hawke; daughter of Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman. Which keeps up the 80s vibe of this show, given how both parents had their ascendancy in the 80s. Also, the actor playing the mayor is Cary Elwes, notable as Westley in The Princess Bride. I just... love that sh*.

Adorkable calling out Mr Clark as the problem "gotta shut down that curiosity" Hilarious! Rock Lee taking her seriously for a hot second. PRICELESS! Oh and there was a minor debate in this reaction that I will say more on in a few episodes 😁
@nancyberry10392 жыл бұрын
To just clear something up, neither Jonathan nor Nancy are PAID employees of the Hawkins Post newspaper, as they are still minors in school (under 18 yrs old). They are on a training type volunteer/intern program, earning work experience & extra credit during summer break before they start their senior year and the younger kids start high school as Freshmans (season 4).

Bruh I just can't help but feel weird about Mike and El making out that much. As viewers we know they're supposed to be 13/14yo, is just uncomfortable to imagine that, and it's understandable that Hopper feels uncomfortable on that situation, they're literally kids, Nancy was like 16 (18yo or so this season) on season 1 and wasn't this wild. It's bothering because El doesn't know what she's supposed to do on a relationship, Mike is the one leading it and is just teaching her that side of being in a relationship. Btw, they can't not interact with each other when El is on his mind unless Mike has secret psychological powers😭 but that was a good one.

Jonathan didn't HAVE to go with her. He chose to follow her, she only needed to borrow the car. He's honestly an idiot for going, if he was really worried about his financial situation he wouldn't have tagged along to interview a little old lady it just wasn't necessary.
