The gate was opened. Max seems to be brain Dead, Eleven was able to restart her heart with her telekinetic powers. The fact that vecna is alive, Max doesn't even seem to be on her own head and the gate is why eleven felt like she Lost ( not mentioning the realization that Henry is the heart of the hive mind himself) it's like they never actually defeated anything cuz it was always him and he was always able to find a way back. + Henry is not the puppet, he's the puppet master. The kids were mostly wrong on the assumptions they made about it, what he explains is that he created every attack they suffered, the upsidedown was full of creatures an particles that he took over, the drawing he made as a kid was the inspiration to make the particles into that. He basically found that "perfect" world he wanted to create and gave it a little shaping.

There is a high chance we find out the Mind Flayer manipulated him from a young age. This is explained in the Stranger Things theater show. He got transported to Dimension X which is what the upside down was called before he transformed it. This was due to malfunctioning teleporter in a cave. The Mind Flayer called out to him and infiltrated his mind. He was transported back to the real world but learned he now had powers and became a twisted evil person due to the Mind Flayer's influence. There was a power struggle and Vecna won. So there is a chance, the Mind Flayer regains control back from Vecna and turns on him in the final season.

Henry (001/Vecna) said in episode 7 after he killed the kids “They’re not gone, still they’re with me, in here” (pointing to his head/mind). Doctor brenner also said he doesn’t just kill, he consumes. This all means that vecna is not just killing his victims, he’s consuming them, including their souls and memories which is why max is brain dead. Her body is alive but she has no soul or mind.

HONESTLY. I was seriously confused by this conclusion. That clock chiming and the 4 'gates' converging WAS the gate opening. Henry's plan came to fruition which is why he kept saying that they thought they won when they had already lost. He had already succeeded in his plan and they did nothing to stop it. The ending WAS the upside down merging with the other reality.

You can really tell how the writers put their hearts writing this series. They know how to make great and likable characters. They know how to make annoying characters. They know make you cry. They know how to make plot twists. They know how to connect strings. They were really great. Together with all the production staff, the director and the actors. They made an amazing series. This finale was just one huge rollercoaster that didn't stop. The show hit you with so many emotional moments one after the other. And when you recovered from one, it hit you with three more. The Duffer Bros confirmed S5 is gonna be Will-Centric. And I'm glad. He's taken a bit of a backseat this past season or two. But he's pretty much the center of all of this. It all started with Will. And it should end with Will.

The shadow was just a swirling cloud of smoke witch was mindless Vecna/ Henry changed the shadow into that spider form. It never reached out to him when he was a kid. It was just a shadow in general. I love that Dustin gave Mr Munson closer it's bittersweet and Mason Dye as Jason phenomenal he did so good playing a confused scared mean guy really wish ppl didn't see him as the monster though if anything the real monster is Angela and Joseph Quinn as Eddie give out boo a hand of applause for pulling on our heart strings and giving one hell of a performance. Fun facts: Millie (El) said she didn't know what Jamie looked like as vecna until the scene when he had her tied up in his world that was the first time she saw him and she actually freaked out but what made her realize it was just Jamie (vecna) dressed up was his breath smelled like cigarettes so that's when she stopped panicking a bit also Joseph saying "I love you man" was improvised and it actually made Gaten (Dustin) tear up which then he said"I love you too" and the "Erica, help” was improvised by Caleb(Lucas) which made the scenes more real.

Here’s what I like when everyone was fighting during the big battle. Is that everyone is VERY BRAVE. Especially when Robin,Steve & Nancy burn Vecna alive and Nancy shooting him even though they literally got choked out before and Vecna is very scary & terrifying looking it didn’t stop Nancy from shooting & walking towards him. But that’s the thing about brave people even though they almost died or put into a dangerous situation,they coming back STRONGER. I don’t think any of them can kill Henry , Elle is on the same strength level ( don’t know her full potential yet).. Will said he’s hurt but not dead , I think that if they can get him in “ real world” they may have more of a chance , since the upside down is his works he can be in control more. As for Max I think director is right she’s just shell, remember brenner said he ( Vecna) consumes his victim so he doesn’t need the body but more of like their mind/ soul. As well as Elle needs to “fly” so more like in touch with inner good as he is inner Evil that’s why he can do what he can.. she was just a kid when all this originally happened so she never got as far as Henry did as far as learning how to control her emotions to do what she wants/ needs to do. Sure, the bats would have followed after them, but that would have been a further distraction for Vecna, potentially. People would still find out about the UpsideDown, which would be for the better if they could convince people it’s not Eddie’s fault. _Practically_ , his sacrifice did not actually achieve much, but he couldn’t know they were being taken out even as he played his part. Not to say it was worthless, but they might have been able to get him further distracted destabilizing that portal from the outside. _Maybe_ .

Victor didn’t know what the heck happened, and was condemned by the town itself (much the same way Eddie was) using Occam’s Razor; “a demon did it” is less plausible than “he did it himself.” However, if Hawkins was made aware of otherworld stuff (which, short of the government mindwiping the town, everyone’s going to in the next season), their investigation can quietly die instead if doubling down on Eddie being the culprit.

The Duffer brothers said Eddie had to die. Remember that Eddie was DM'ing the game early on, and who the enemy was? Eddie will be back, as Vecna's undead right hand man, Kas, protecting Vecna while he recovers from the crew's damage, and will eventually turn on Vecna, leading to Vecna's downfall.

I think they didn't kill Vecna here because there is more story that will flow through to s5. I feel like in the end, Henry/001's closure is finding/feeling love from Papa. Theory: Eleven's powers are never explained but aside from Telekinesis, I think her powers is folding Time & Space (Other dimensional portals). The Void is a plane of darkness and where she finds people. She essentially is crossing through space to be there at that point in time. We have not seen anyone else travel to the Void. Not even Henry/001. Also she could travel in people's memories. Time - I realized this when in the Massacre episode, she un-broke herself. When Henry was killing her, her arm & leg broke, eyes almost popping, then she un-broke herself. If it's telekinesis and she just popped them back, then her bones would still be broken and won't be able to walk. So I think she reversed time to when her limbs aren't broken. I think that's what she did to Max. She reversed her heart to a beating state. That's why they said she is the cure and Papa wanted her to complete the Nina project for her to realize the full extent of her powers and in S5 probably reverse everything.

He was first generation out of Brooklyn, its crazy when we first met like over a decade ago i used to call him Carlton (Fresh Prince) lol. Well you're wrong. It is obvious in episode 9 from after Henry/001/Vecna shows Eleven that he shaped the Mind Flayer to look like a spider, Eleven says to him: "It was... It was you. Always you." And he nods in agreement. His entire dialogue to eleven before and after proves that he controls the hive mind. Same with Will's dialogue to Mike near the end of the episode. We don't even know if the Mind Flayer is conscious. It doesn't even react to Henry when he comes across it in 1979. The mind Flayer is just a whole lot of particles that can bring beings together into a hive mind and 001 controls it.

Yep, the theater play "The First Shadow" confirms that the Mind Flayer was in control initially and reached out to Henry when he got teleported accidently to Dimension X (Upside Down) which also gave him his powers. From there, Henry was transported back to the real world and became evil due to the Mind Flayer's presence within him. He then learned he had powers & Vecna then took control over the Mind Flayer after a power struggle between them.

Man, I was not expecting to feel Eddy's death that deeply. He was a great addition to the group, and it sucks that he sacrificed himself. Also I think this was a major L for them. They had 2 objectives: 1. Kill 1 2. Stop the gate from opening They failed in both and lost 2 people. As much as I want them to have a win, I just can't see it

I'm still not sure whether the Mind Flayer is its own entity or a creation Henry made out of special Upside Down particles. Honestly, I prefer the latter. My mental fanfic wants the last season to feature ally beings from under the surface of the Upside Down. Maybe a mineral hivemind that shapeshifts. Flash back to the time little Holly Wheeler had the wall reaching for her in season one. Say it grabbed her and copied her. Give them a mental link so Holly's dreams have been filled playing a She-Ra-like hero. Give her a mechanical horse formed from '80s pop culture vehicles. Then have them cross the gate so the twin actresses can interact... Maybe have it all come down while Holly is becoming too old for a babysitter and make the capitalist Erica have to deal with her adventuring BS similar to how big sister Nancy dragged people around.
