Loved the professor's answer on the psychological aspect of why propagating knowledge of our past contributions helps is today. Highly recommend two books: "Ancient Hindu Science" by Professor Alok Kumar and "The Imperishable Seed" by Dr. Bhaskar Kamble

It’s not true that the British did not want to break up Indian culture, traditions and religion! It started with Macaulay who very intentionally broke up our gurukul system by closing down, sacking the achaaryas and even burning them alive in some cases. You are far too kind and naively forgiving of the British, their sheer greed and the tremendous damage that they did to our country. Svaadhyaanmaa pramadah.. is also a directive from our Upanishads and gurukuls. Satyam vada, dharmam chara, maatra devo bhav, pitru devo bhav, aachaarya devo bhav, atithi devo bhav, svaadhaayaanmaa pramadah ( don’t ever delay studying yourself!), shraddhayaa deyam were the eight instructions that the students were supposed to abide by.

Before this big bang there must be some entity which is beyond time and space which caused this and after a certain time the universe will again go back into that entity. And that entity is what is called as ultimate reality, God or Brahman according to Upanishads. Based on another school,ie samkhya , there is two ultimate realities.Prakrithi and purusha. One end of hinduism might be doomed in superstitions, illogism and stupidity but the other end of hinduism is Vedanta is the most rationalistic and scientific thought ever produced.
